How tall are you again, Slappy?

I was just looking something up and came across a thread I started July 21st 2006 called "Help me shake this cold!" It described exactly what's going on now, exact same time of year (the cold had been hanging around already for a while at the time). I'd completely forgotten that I was sick well before I went on a big trip, got better just beforehand, and then got sick again after -- it's the after that I remembered.

The exact same thing happening the exact same time of year sure sounds like allergies though.

Anyway, noting for that reason (follow up on possible allergies) and because in that thread I noted a definite work out --> feel worse, don't work out --> feel better correlation. So I won't be going to the gym 'til this is well and truly kicked.

I was 186 today, that brings my 7 day average down to about 187.5. The downside is that today I landed in Phoenix and will be away from my normal routine until Thursday. I think my food choices will be more difficult (business trips, dinner meetings with management/staff) and I might not have the time to run that I would normally at home.

I also will not have access to a scale, something that's been my normal everyday routine for the last 6 weeks, so I'll be in the dark as far as my weight loss goes.

This week should be interesting, wish me luck.

Good luck, maporshe!
Have you seen Joe Nation's NYC Marathon training thread?
It's inspired me to get running more regularly.
I even ran through Central Park with the Master, his own self.

Maporsche--

Most hotels have gym facilities these days.

As for Wicked Gorging--you know damn well what a calorie looks like. You can't be ambushed--you can just be wilfully wicked.

Good luck, maporsche. I agree with Noddy. Find the exercise room at your hotel and disappear there as often as possible.

I survived the weekend with a net 2 lb loss. Full steam ahead to my Thursday night gathering.

How's it going, maporsche?

Well, so far the trip hasn't been the eating fest it could have been. I've stuck to around 2000 calories on Saturday and a little over 1500 on Sunday.

No exercise yet though....hopefully tonight, but it doesn't look pretty. My day is pretty full at work and there is a post-work dinner, and by the time that's over it will be time for bed.....but hopefully tomorrow I can hit the treadmill for an hour or two.

Great job yourself JPB, the weekends are always the most challenging for me.

I've had several comments on my weight loss since this trip started though, many of these co-workers I haven't seen in about 5 months and I'm roughly 30lbs lighter now vs then. It's a good boost in motivation.

I have seen it....I need to find some time to read the last dozen pages or so. It is very motivating.

You're right......I kept this in mind the last two days and was able to stay near my weight loss goal (and under my 'maintaining weight' calorie needs).

THANKS!

Weve moved up to our little patch of woods in mAine for the summer and I have managed to redouble my daily hiking efforst because the woods are quite interesting and tangly. Its like running a treadmill where every so often a branch comes winging by to catch yer leg so youve gotta step high. Its rather tiring but I feel good. Im down to 198 as of Sunday. Ive now lost 29 pounds since February . Thats about a pound a week and Ive not done an ything weird. When I have to travel on business, I start every day with oatmeal and I have a pedometer with me. I walk a 10000 step circuit wherever Im at. (. Since I dont run, I take a bit longer in my exercise routine (about and hour each day). I walk briskly and, as a result, my BP medicine had to be readjusted downward. If I can make my 185 target, I may be off BP medicine entirely they said. I hate the BP meds, they make me tired nd cranky.

Awright, farmerman! Keep doing what you're doing as it's obviously working for you.

Maporsche, good to hear that you're doing well food-wise. Three (four?) more days -- you can do it!

I hope you can get off them. Then you won't be so tired.

JPB-

Very good.

Maporsche--

Thanks for the kind words.

Now I must practice what I preach. After an abstemious day, my one pound gain turned into a three pound gain. Of course fluid retention is partly responsible, but I have a week of Exceedingly Thoughtful Meals ahead of me.

Farmerman--

Very, very good. Will you need a new wardrobe this fall?

The new poundage has gone.

Current project: Convert a few pounds of quivering fatty cells to some sleek, lean muscle meat over the next week and month and on and on and on.

I'm still holding below the 170 line.
Next objective is to stay under 168 for at least a week.
Almost made it last week, but there was this deep-dish pizza.
And so much speghetti & meatballs.
Danged Italians!

i haven't dared to stand on the scale for awhile. slappy said that's not a good indicator anyway. i can feel the difference and that's enough for me.
i've been to the gym every day for the last weeks, except for once. joined a strength training class. the Ruinator that led the class was merciless (i LOVED it!). Now I can't walk. Or bend. Or use my arms. But it feels damn good when I don't move.

I've been waiting out this cold/allergy attack/ whatever it is. I'd been getting steadily better but then when I went out to dinner with mac on Tuesday I could NOT stop coughing (I apologize again, mac!) It was something about trying to project my voice in the restaurant... or something. I never quite figured it out.

So even though it calmed down again once I got home, when I was coughing and coughing I vowed to try some Advair, which I have on hand 'cause of my husband (he takes it daily) and which he'd been trying to get me to use. I seem to have improved a lot since then. I think I might risk the gym on Monday.
