YAY GEORGE! Good for you!

My ultimate goal is to get below 160, but getting below 180 will make me verra verra happy. Haven't been there since high school - 30 years ago.

Currently 185. My plan to go back to writing everything down is helping me get more focussed i.e. to eat less. I'll let you know if it works on Wednesday. Not that I'll give up if it doesn't work, of course. I'll just come up with another plan!

Soz--

Once you establish a routine....

Flushd--

Isn't a pity that the results of self-denial are so slow?

Dag--

Forward!

George--

Tell Clive I'm impressed with his workout. He's into man-sized training.

Mac--

You're on the final stretch now. By the end of summer....

Thanks for the encouraging words, Noddy and Clary.

But I'm in no rush. It's taken me two years to get here (down 105 or so) and in some ways, I think it's good that it took this long. I've had the time to develop new habits, and my body has adjusted to its new parameters as I've gone along.

I still look down some days and wonder whose leg or wrist or other random body part is attached to me.

Back to Horn Pond with Clive yesterday. We walked for four minutes,
then did six intervals of 2min 30sec jog, 1min 30 sec walk. We didn't do
mauch of a walk on the last interval as we were almost at the end. We
finished in 27:10, Clive's best time yet.

I was a bad boy over the weekend, so I've got to work on getting back
under 170 this week.

My Eternal Vigilance slipped.

Last week I had four new and vivid stressful bits of news and I spent the last four days eating mindlessly.

Once again, a new start....

I'm sorry to hear about the stressful news.
I also deal with such news by munching.

George--

"Munching" is too mild a world.

Gorging

Stuffing

Swilling

By the end of the week, I should have many fewer dangling loose ends. As a Control Freak I can cope with everything except uncertainity.

Hmm, thats interesting, some of you have realised why you munch, youve discovered your trigger.
If we all did that I reckon we could start to change our ways.
For m im more than sure its beacause A)Im bloomin hungry at many times throughout the day, espcially the evening, and B)the evenings are long and dull, a nice snack puts suothing nice int eh equation to break the evening up.

Looks like you've identified at least one of your triggers, materialgirl. You eat when things are dull - when you're home and nothing's going on to distract you from eating.

Perhaps you could consider a few other ways to break up the evening, other than eating.

(knitting's always good - it's very difficult to eat while knitting)

Material Girl--

The problem with curing boredom with food is that the more you eat, the more you weigh and the less likely you are to get up and do something.

Inactivity leads to boredom which encourages nibbling which....

Who is in charge of your life, anyway?

Make new rules:

No matter how bored I am, I can't have a little snack until I touch my toes ten times.

Or:

No snacking until after sunset.

Or:

I will have 1 (one) little snack at 10 p.m--and I'll measure it before time so I don't get greedy.

You can do it.

You're getting the knack of out-thinking yourself. Thin women out-think themselves.

Hold your dominion.

Had my apple later than normal even tho I wasnt that hungry, just had my salad sarny for lunch, Im stuffed now.Hopefully il have a good dinner with another yoghurty thing and thatl keep me full for the rest of the day.I shall keep you posted.

My yoghurt thing is made of avacado which Ive seen has a load of fat in it.Is it wise to only make one youghurt thing once a week?

An avocado, peeled and skinned, has about 300 calories--mostly from "good" fat.

If you're splitting your avocado into two servings, this is not excessive.

A certain amount of fat is necessary in a balanced diet. Further, fat can contribute to a feeling of comfortable fullness.

Well, from 2 avacados and added fruit I can get 2 and a half tall glasses of the yoghurty stuff, one tall glass for my dad and I usually have the other one and a half at seperate sittings.

Material Girl--

Sensible dieting takes a bit of math:

As a general rule you need to eat 15 calories a day for every pound of body weight to maintain body weight.

If you weighed 100 pounds (and were reasonably active) you would need 1500 calories--or five avocados--to maintain your weight.

If you want to lose weight, you should eat fewer than 15 calories a pound so that your body is forced to burn fat for your energy needs.

This is an excellent site for counting calories:

http://www.thecaloriecounter.com/

To get the caloric value for your smoothie, you'll need to look up the calorie count for each of the ingredients.
