The walking/jogging programs have pretty good reputations for getting results - muscle increase/fat loss.

I've got my Melaya now Shocked I think it's official that I'm going to be in the next dance recital at the studio. Since I'm not a huge fan of public performance, this is going to be a challenge. I don't mind practicing - like it, in fact - I just don't dig the stage.

Melaya?

That's great about the performance!

I've been walking, by the way, and it's much more satisfying than I expected it to be. Running is my thing, walking feels wimpy. But if I do it long enough and fast enough I notice an effect.

Quote:
Beledi music is used specifically for a dance known as the Melaya Leff (pronounced "ME-LIE-AH LEF"). This dance is from Alexandria, Egypt. A melaya itself is a large, black shawl made of nylon or silk, in which the women wrap themselves completely from head to toe. It is a modesty garment for when they leave the house. For the stage, the melaya is trimmed with gold or silver pailettes. The word leff simply means "to wrap". Under the melaya, the dancer wears a form-fitting dress that is short, ruffled and bright in color. She dons open-toed slippers with high heels called ship-ship, and on her head she ties a small scarf decorated with pompons or flowers. Also worn is a crocheted face-veil known as a burr'oh. The melaya is draped upon the body, and during the dance it slips off and is re-wrapped time and again. As Alexandria is a port city, the dance scene is between the fishermen and the women who are looking to profit by sharing their liberties. The men sit on the street beside a café, drinking and smoking their water pipes. The women compete for attention by flirting. Eventually, the men and women dance together.

we're just doing the flirting part. I think.

How about speed-walking? Or power-walking? That's no small feat. I like walking but it's been raining 24/7 here since last November and I just hate walking in the rain.

I lost 15 pounds very quickly eating a variety of salads and homemade soups. No bread or dairy.

Feels great. Now I'm sliding back a bit but will have to get back on that horse.

My plateau continues. I weighed precisely the same this week as last.

Going to try journaling again, see if that makes a difference. (I'm pretty sure that the problem is eating too much in the evenings.)

Mac--

You have my sympathy. At least you're maintaining your new weight in spite of all those Skins of Fat Cells pleading to be resurrected.

I'm not losing because I'm not moving enough. I've had a maddeningly medical week this week, but today I hope to start taking advantage of Walking Weather.

All the same, 116-115 is a heartening figure on the scales.

My parents are on holiday soon, for some reason I always try to be healty/chnage my ways when they are away.
So, my plan is, the day the leave I will purchse the most revolting takeaway possible which will remind me why I dont want to eat processed cr*ppy food then start to eat healthy and exercise..in some way...probably bouncing.

Thanks.

I have a recipe, admittedly nicked by a tv celeb that cooks but Ive been making lots in differnt flavours.

1 rip avacado per person
fruit of your choice
lemon juice
maple syrup,add to taste.
Whizz it all in a food processor and its a gorgeous yoghurty dessert

Crack the exercise thingy and repeat every day throughout the summer.

When I'm running the world, I'm going to build Rome in a Single Day--or at least make it possible to remove years of indulgence in a single week.

Better weather is helping.

Plus closer gym.

With PARKING.

Ah, parking.

(I'd walk there if it were close enough, but I don't have that much time in the day... yet.)

Awesome, Soz. A gym you can actually use! Smile

The nicer weather does help a lot. Walking a lot more. Love lazy walks (they don't burn tonnes of calories, until you realize "wow, I've been going for an hour and my legs are getting warm n' toasty".

Got my new bathing suits, a grab bag of atheletic and showy. Swimming is the activity of the gods, to me.

Now to cut down on the sweet, sweet treats. hehe.
