3 runs!!I keep having an urge to run but I know Il only last 10 seconds.

It was the London Marathon yesterday, there was a report today of a 22 year old man who succesfully ran it, dying this morning from the after effects, poor guy.

well, mg...the first run I lasted for about six blocs. Also the second.... then we went hiking for a few hours on saturday. Third run was better, my muscles being reawakened and not protesting with spasms anymore.
Today I ran 30 mins...not much, but it's a start.
Oh, i'll be biking for another 30 mins - to and from work, so that's an added bonus.

Well done to you Dag!!When Im sat like a beached whale on my sofa I will picture you hiking and hopefully that will shame me into exercising.
Have to admit the badminton is fun, looking back on it other than trying to hit the thing I was just laughing!

When I started running, I went from driveway to driveway. I still don't like to run, and don't do it often, but I've got much better stamina for it now.

I'd still rather take dance classes or speed-walk, so that's what I'm going with.

Friday - walked to the subway in the morning, walked about an hour from the resto to the concert in the evening, Saturday - walked a couple of hours, Sunday - walked two hours and then took an hour and a half dance class.

I just have to keep moving.

This morning the scales said 116, despite a wild weekend with two vodkas and a bit of champagne.

I must start moving purposefully again.

Yes, isn't it odd how one has periods of just not caring enough, where the customary vigilance is relaxed and one doesn't mind? I allowed myself not only ham, egg and chips for lunch yesterday, but also a proper big Indian meal in the evening. A social eater, me. Take away people and I'd eat frugally.

Clary--

Here in the States I can use the long, hard winter as my flimsy excuse. What's yours?

If I post my homework here, I'm more likely to do it - instead of wandering around my computer looking for it, and finding something more amusing.

So here's this week's assignment for my Tuesday night class ...

Quote:
Stay facing left)
4 hip drops with R-leg up (Saidi step) (arms in 2nd position)
Half corkscrew turn to face right (corkscrew turn= "show your hipscarf-turn")
Repeat hip drops facing right with L-leg up, Repeat half corkscrew turn to face front.

Little jump to the Right,
3 hip-bumps R-L-R (arms by your sides framing)
Little jump to face back
3 hip-bumps with hands besides head (3rd position)

Choo-choo from the back to come around with hands coming down through the center
Heels down (facing front)
1 big Egyptian hip circle (starting left-front-right-back) with shoulder shimmy

this

needs lots of work - from the transition to the big hip circle with shoulder shimmy

Watch out. First she'll demonstrate. Then she'll suggest, "You try it." Then the A2K gathering will be Shimmy-Shimmy June.

Good for you. Do you have an extra piece of fruit in case you turn cranky in the late afternoon?

Clive and I don't have a gym to work out at for another month or so. Our
workouts have been great for him. He has problems gaining muscle tone
and various challenges involving balance, motor planning, coordination,
and other gross and fine motor skills.

I want him to keep an exercise program going and to do it with him. He's
trying to gain muscle; I'm trying to lose fat.

So now we're hitting the road. We do a two mile course around nearby
Horn Pond. We start off at a brisk walk for five minutes. The we jog for
a minute and walk for 3 minutes. We do this six times and then walk the
rest of the way back.

The first time (Saturday morning) went very well. He struggled on the last two
intervals, but that's OK. That's what intervals are for. Yesterday evening
we went pack to the pond, but I forgot my watch. So we just did random
intervals. We'd jog until he was almost out of breath and then walk till he
got his breath back. This went well also. I think some of the jogs were
longer than a minute. Maybe we'll alternate planned intervals and
random intervals.

I'm noting this here in case anyone wants to try out a walk/jog program.
