Material Girl--
Brave people are those who overcome cowardice.
Thin people are those who overcome intertia.
Listen to your Uncle George.
I will, my last choccy bar has been eaten and Im gona try not to buy any more.
I had a bit of a bounce yesterday and now the weather is getting better Im going to force my mum into the garden so we can play badminton again.
What do you do for a trampoline workout?
Is it just bouncing?
It is brief bouncing and running on it.Gona try to find what Ive done with the leaflet I got with it so I can try the exercises they list.
Good idea.
I find I can stick to an exercise more if I have some sort of plan.
You might find it helpful to do a little warm-up first. Exercising with
warmed-up muscles helps the burning of fat. A good warm-up is a lesser
version of the exercise itself. For bouncing, I'd think lowering yourself
slowly into a squatting position (knees bent no more than 90 degrees) and
then rising back up, continuing into a toe raise at the end. Do repetitions
of this for a few minutes before getting on the trampoline.
The silly thing is that whenever I imediatley get a chance to use it Ive either just woken up and am very hungry or just got home fom work and again very hungry, therefore my urge to eat is far bigger than wanting to exercise and I know its not a good idea to exercise straight after eating!
Its an odd vicious circle.
Ive decided not to be a fatso for my friends wedding next year(if I get invited)so thats something to aim for(just like my brothers wedding last january and I didnt lose weight for that).
Got to get a routine and find healthy substitutes for my so called treats.
If you can just make yourself do your workout, you may find that it
actuallly helps to suppress your appetite. I'm not kidding, that's how it
works for me.
Plan on easy workouts for a week or so. No sense getting all sore and
discouraged right off. By "easy" I mean exercising at a pace that has
you breathing deeply, but not gasping for breath.
Hehe, I walked up the stairs to talk to my parents yesterday and i had to stop talking coz i was out of breath!!
I had been in a dash before the stairs so Im not totally unfit.
Ok, will give all suggestions a go.
Annoyingly I seem to be able to convince myself that sitting on a sofa watching tv is more enjoyable than exercise.
Now you need to convince yourself that sitting on a sofa watching tv is
more enjoyable after exercise. And if you get into a good routine,
that will happen.
work-out/bounce first
then rest for a few moments
then eat
then enjoy sofa/telly
then go for a walk
then you'll deserve a small treat
Yep, the whole family has talked about going out in the evening and walking fast round the block type thing.
Remember, eating when you come home is part of an unhealthy--even self-destructive routine and routines can be changed.

But Im talking about dinner, I need dinner about 6pm.
I agree eating calorific food late in the evening is bad.
Do you get home about six and eat as a family?
If not, have a piece of fruit, do your bouncing and then think about something more substantial.
This week's

Interesting articles there, Noddy, the idea of 'snacking' my exercise appeals to me, just 10 minutes at a time! My fit and sporty sons say they feel much brighter if they have plenty of exercise; one of their friends doing his finals at Oxford did nothing but work, hardly eating or exercising, for the last fortnight - expected by everyone to get a first, he ended up so exhausted mentally and unfit physically, he got a much less prestigious mark.
Is the change in seasons making everyone feel like trying something new for fitness, or push forward with something tried and trusted?
I'm continuing with my belly dancing and Egyptian folk dance classes. Next session of the Egyptian folk dance will add Melaya Leff work to the cane work we've been doing. Hard work and great fun.
I'm cranking up the intensity on my usual workouts. Added the elliptical recently. It's hard!
I'm considering giving up the water aerobics classes - at least some of them. (I still do three a week, most weeks.) They're not hard enough...
But I'll wait until the warm-weather hordes arrive, as it's still not warm enough to guarantee that there will be three students per class, which is the required minimum.
EhBeth, Mac--
You people are encouraging. I've had a pulled muscle in my right shoulder/arm and have been concentrating on gentle stretching for the last ten days.
I'm adding a little yard work--mostly raking right now--to my exercise routine and a bit of outdoor walking. Unfortunately my pulled muscle is on my right side where I carry my cane for balance.
Physical fitness and true love--neither goal comes with a super-smooth highway.
