Eggs! That is about the only food I have left in the fridge anyway. You're a genius, Clary! And fat free cottage cheese. Lovely. But I ain't going food shopping, no way. Not today.
I will join in by turning Prince on and jumping around in my usual style. That involves long series of abs workout (taken from my boxing class - ouch the pain, the pain... but noticeable results already), and squats, and weights (shadow boxing with light weight -wonder for shoulder, biceps, and triceps definition). Yay, hurrah!

By the way, as far as snacks go... I was going to have a fat free chocolate yoghurt...i mean it sounds harmless... It may be fat free, but did you know it has 34 grams of carbohydrates? Holy cow, that's almost as much as a whole chocolate bar. Those usually have about 45 grams. That's a LOT of sugar. no yoghurt for me anymore, at least not this kind. Gotta find some low-sugar kind.

this is a great thread. I know i'm a bit late to weigh in on the discussion, but as a daughter, I think that the mother/daughter weight loss discussions are always going to be difficult. I've learned that it helps to be as open as possible and honest with my mother. I know she only wants the best for me, but she doesn't always know how to express it. So, if your mother is making comments that are hurting your feelings, I think it's fine to explain to her why you don't appreciate her comments and how she could more effectively communicate with you in a way that doesn't hurt your self esteem.

Dag, my Weight Watchers yoghurt only has 17g of carbs. I'm sure it doesn't taste as good as the chocolate kind, but I like it.

That whole fatfree thing is a snare and a delusion. I think carbs are more dangerous, esp if in the form of sugar. So are you going to pm me with your present weight, or are you bold enough to put it here??

Mine is 173 lbs, and after the good start I went out to lunch and had roast chicken, baked potatoes with butter in them, followed by strawberries and cream, and washed down with white wine... loved it!

Laughing i bet!

i know the fat free is a complete delusion, and i'm quite mindful of carbs. but this was a total letdown, for this particular chocolate yoghurt is the best thing ever....not surprisingly, as it's mostly chocolate and sugar. Soooo saaaaaad!
i got to write all day...it's gonna be difficult not to snack, luckily i have absolutely no food left. only peanut butter and jam...but no bread, so hey. i just might be safe.

I usually shun the diet part of weight loss -- I eat reasonably, nothing obvious to shave off (like, I don't go to McDonald's for lunch everyday or anything), and it's been shown over and over again that when you lose weight by dieting, it's easier to gain back later and harder to lose it the next time. So I usually try to lose weight through exercise only.

I'm in my 7th week of my exercise regimen and watching things more closely than usual and it was so dispiriting that I could totally tell the effect a big pasta dinner (for example) would have. So I've been doing more food-watching than is usual for me. No ice cream in about a month. Kashi "Go Lean" cereal instead of granola. Haven't had 'my" donut of the group of 3 E.G. brought home the other day. Etc.

I figure that once I get down to fighting trim it's easier to exercise, so I can help it along a bit and then relax, food-wise. And I do see it helping (though it could also be that I've finally reached the stage where the exercise is paying off -- whatever, I'm not messing with it!)

MG, have you got the moral high ground, by eating less/or more healthily than her? That helps one's self esteem no end, I find. Adds bite to the diet, so to squeak.

I have to admit no.
Im snacking a heck of alot less, Im eating fruit rather than crisps and chocolate.
The other day mum was drinking wine and I commented that its full of calories yet she carried on drinking.

Annoyingly I havnt got a dieting mantra in my head to help me.I still eat what Id normally eat for meals but I have cut down on snacks. But I have taken up a sport that I play with mum.

Im happy to eat healthily but salad doesnt stop me from feeling hungry.

If you live anywhere near Devon I can give you a hypnotherapy session or 2 to help...

Salads - yeuch. Why are they so unattractive to the dieeter?! I make huge comfortable veggie soups, which at least feel filling and nice. Forget Mum, this is for YOU!

Im about 200 miles away.
Ive always wondered about hypnotherapy.I bought a hypnotherapy tape for confidence, didnt work tho.

I think im making up excuses.
I actually had salad with my normal meal yesterday just to feel as tho Im eating soemthing healthy(due to eating alot of batter covered food on saturday,I ordered what I thought would be small portions, they turned out to be huge so I had to eat as much as possible!!)

I know getting slimmer/healthier should be a prize in itself but I just feel like i have nothing enjoyable. Its not like if i eat well soemthing great will happen in my life.I eat healthily, I wont lose weight and i feel like Im missing out on the only joy i can get for myself. Therefore I eat.

Dam it , promised i wouldnt be one of these comfort eating people.

Nope, but Ive seen him live, he is amazing!

Anyhoo, I did stumble across the other one, his name escapes me for the moment. He was doing a weight loss programme. He did this tapping technique where you tap above the eye, thenthe collarbone, side of the hand etc, they are energy channels and if you think of the thing you want to stop doing it will help you stop craving it(helps with fears as weel as Ive seen it before on Richard and Judy)I gave it a go as i htought Ive nothing to lose and from that day I havent pigged out like I normally do.
Ive had about 3 naughty snacks since wheras normally it would be every day.Even my puddings dont seem that appealing!

What is his name, slightly bald, now wheres glasses, something McKenna?

Paul McKenna? Are you sure it wasn't D Brown, because he did that technique too... called Emotional Freedom Technique, I learnt it from a video, you can keep on tapping whenever you get cravings etc. It seems to work. Craig something developed it - must have a website.

I travel around a lot - what bit of UK are you in? I might visit it one of these days!
