Sad Poor Dag.

Ok, what are maltese balls? I'm almost afraid to ask. Hopefully they have nothing to do with cute little white dogs.

Thanks, Mac. I'm sure you'll see a payback on your efforts soon too.

I've come to the determination that Fritos should be outlawed. They came into my house at the request of my daughter. Sure, no problem, I don't like Fritos all that much, I won't eat them. WRONG!!!!

Today will be a better day.....

Two more days in the first half of winter.

Two more days and we'll have as much daylight as we did for Halloween.

Sunlight works directly on will power.

Two more days, just two more days.

soooooo, big news on the not-as-big-anymore pant front

got into my next-size down target jeans

I'd actually been able to get into them for a week or so - if I lay down on the bed to zip and button them up. I could also stand up in them. I just couldn't walk in them.

Managed to wear them out tonight - and walk and sit and everything. Well, almost everything. I couldn't initially bend over in those jeans and tie my boots up Embarrassed

All's well now.

and my beady eye and diet/exercise brain is focussed on the next pair o target jeans

I've been upping the exercise and eating a little less this week, but the scale doesn't appear to have budged. Another day and a half til weigh-in.

Oh, I forgot to post that the scale did in fact budge last Wednesday. I lost 3.4 pounds. Not much movement this week so far, but I'm trying to just look at the big picture and stop sweating the little one. Not that there's anything wrong with sweating Rolling Eyes ...

Yabba-dabba-dooo to both ehbeth and Mac!!!

I'm maintaining on the scale, but all my clothes are still looser yet. I was able to put on my smaller sized jeans, straight from the dryer without any sucking in or on-going discomfort.

Tomorrow will be a different story after the next 6 hours of eating crap at the SB gathering we're going to later.

ah good, you found us roverroad. If you want to make one small change before your dr's appt next week you might want to think about a short daily walk. Nothing strenuous at this point, just a simple walk around the block, or park further away from the door at the store or at work. Simple things that get you on your feet a bit more. Then, once the dr gives you some ideas on weight loss we can help you in other ways.

It's good to see you here!

I haven't read all of this thread - 348 pages is a bit daunting.

I wanted to know what anyone thought of Dr. Phils weight loss book?

I am thinking of a lifestyle change rather than a diet and he yaps on so much about he can tell you how to do it I'm wondering if I get a copy.

Anyone read it?

It's kind of simplistic. Lose weight by eating less (no sh!t). Control emotional eating by doing something other than eating (duh).

If the issue is emotional eating (or emotional anything else to excess) then the book, "The Pathway, by Laurel Mellin is much better. I was reading a review online of Dr Phil's book and one of the reviewers was a diet counselor who said she prefers Mellin's book to Dr Phil's. I read them both. Dr Phil's book has basic stuff, but not overly helpful in the how-to. Mellin's book changed my life.

dr phil.. ehh.. boring.

when i started losing weight, i went with dr Weils books.

great tasting foods.
and i noticed many MANY other health problems begin to fall into place.

number one for me was depression.
I dont have to have drugs anymore because I realized that my diet was the horrid kicker in that problem area.

But, if you dont want to follow any ' one book' Heeven, just change what is on your plate.
Mentaly divide your plate into 4 slices.
2 of those ' slices should be veggies and grains.

one should be a protien source, and one a fruit source.

An example -
steamed broccoli and cauliflower, with brown rice, a small piece of baked chicken and sweet apple or watermelon, or .. some fruit.

Okay, Dr. Phils book - out!

I'll have to check into Mellins book. I know I need a kick in the pants or some sort of boost to get me started.

I've noticed I need small portions. I have a small appetite but I need to eat more often than 3 times a day. I got into the habit of grabbing something junky and shoveling it into my face, when in fact I would prefer something hot and tasty and fresh. I have to re-design my eating habits and think up some delicious small-portioned meals to spread throughout the day. Plus variety will stop me from being bored.

rice can be eaten in large quantities with it only having , on average 80 calories per cooked cup serving.

a cooked cup... thats.. ALOT.

small portions, unless you eat alot of meat, may not be the answer for you,
If you like to eat alot, ( i know i sure as hell do. hehe) raw or steamed veggies, fruits, already cooked rice... add some thing to it for flavor if you like..

all of those make great snacks that you can eat in large amounts without hurting your waistline .

Doing just that.. I lost almost 80 lbs in one year.
I didnt even realize it until.. maybe.. 4? months ago?
I went from a size 24 to a size 16. And I dont exercize. Not one bit.
I tried.. fugg it to hell.. im too lazy for it. Laughing

shewolfnm, I was wondering about rice. I've been eating a lot of pasta and I know that converts into fat. But I don't mind substituting it with instant rice. I need something quick when I get home from work. I usually grab a sauce pan and throw in 1 boil in bag of rice, 1 8oz can of tomato sauce, an 8 oz can of veggies, and an 8 oz can of mushrooms. Throw in some onions and garlic, pepper and some curry powder or some Cajun powder and that's my dinner in 10 minutes. Problem is, working a 12 hour shift I have to get to bed quickly after eating.

I used to put pasta in the pan and a small can of chicken or tuna, shrimp or salmon. But I'm cutting back the meat to once a day.

Does this sound like a healthy quick meal or should I be trying something else. The whole pan when everything is thrown in is about 800 calories. Sometimes I'll eat it all at once but it can last all day. It's low fat and low sodium. Some times I have to add a little potassium salt

It's either throw together a quick meal like this or I'll have to stop for fast food on the way home. And I know that's bad. Except lately I've just been getting the salads at the drive through. I don't seem to be loosing any weight on them though.

Dr. Phill makes me want to throw up. That could be a good weight loss method. I'll just torn to his picture on the book cover and I'll loose lots of weight... Laughing
