I'll definitely test the elliptical before purchasing. Just don't want to pay a 1000.00, as suggested by Consumer Report.

I just cut and pasted your routine into my Palm. I think it looks well rounded, (might do the abs everyday, can't do enough abs.)

I've been doing 5lb increasesX10

ie Ist set 50x10 2nd set 55x10 3rd 60x10. If the last ten are easy to do, you go up five at the NEXT session. (This is for making muscle mass)

Are you doing four sets of 12 at the same weight?

Au contraire, ma cher!

I've been battling the bulge lo, these many years.
Right now, I'm trying to get down out of the 180s
and "so easy" is not a phrase that comes to mind.

yeeeeaaaah, but it is generally easier for men to lose fat, because *you guys* bind fat differently. i forgot the details, but it's chemistry (uh...or well, biochemistry i guess). women seem to have a special bond with fat.

I mix it up, Joe. Some days I do 4 sets of 12 with a weight that is med-high, some days I do med-high/high/high/med. Overall the weight lifted turns out to be about the same. The other thing I do is try to up my base weight every two or three weeks by 5 lbs. I definately vary the weights between sets when I'm shifting to a new base level.

I had a good workout this morning, adding in the extra cardio. I did well yesterday with the diet: cereal/milk, ls V8, for breakfast, steamed veggies and shrimp with lemon/olive oil for lunch, stir-fried veggies and pork tenderloin with quinoa side dish for dinner, along with a large apple mid-morning and a handful of almonds mid-afternoon. About 1200 cals total and not the least bit hungry during the evening.

A loss is a loss!

I only lost 0.4 pounds this week, but I'd still rather have that than a gain!

I'm back to "go"--better than the three pound gain.

Two more weeks in the first half of winter.

Goodwill is going to be very happy to see me this weekend. I've got a bag o stuff downstairs, and a bag o stuff upstairs - and I think the pants I'm wearing right now need to go live with someone else now.

George - what's the word on the fat pants at your house?

hurrah and farewell, pants!

i have one minor sin to confess, and that is two vodka gimlets tonight - i had them put fresh mint leaves in, simply delicious. but of course, it's full of sugar and alcohol in general is a no-no. i'll have to be extra jumpy at the boxing training tomorrow. we're doing hooks (exciting!).

Embarrassed Gogi, one of the 'up there' boxers, who is looking to become a pro (and already is an austrian amateur champion) told me yesterday, that i look 'good out there' - as in the ring, during the training. that i look like a natural born boxer. i think i swooned, played with my hair, crossed my legs, as if i was 12 years old again. (funny, thought of being complimented on looking like a boxer and being happy for it hasn't crossed my mind ever before...)

Wow, nice compliment from Gogi. How many female boxers are there at your gym? It would be weird to be one of the only ones.
