I'm sure I'd notice if (make that when) I meet you. Who noticed?

It was actually 3 of my colleagues - independently of each other - today.

I think it's a combination of the weight loss - just about 6 pounds since New Year's Day (depending on the scale it's either a bit more, or a bit less), and wearing something flattering - watching those What Not to Wear marathons can pay off Very Happy

That's great, ehbeth! Keep on dancing and even MORE people will notice.

Don't you want to slap that chic on WNTW? She sooooo superior, ugh.

errrrrr, no
I think the American version of WNTW is wussy - too nice and huggy.

I prefer the original BBC version with Trinny and Susannah - they are uber-bitches and GOOD!

"now look at this. if you just wore a proper bra and your t*ts were up here <they grab the woman's boobs and hoist 'em up> where they're supposed to be, you'd have a waist. can you see the difference that makes?"

Are Trinny & Susannah the ones who appear on Oprah occasionally?

Confused

I have a bone to pick with Slim Fast products.

In changing my diet ( yet again) I have been looking for sweet snacks that wont throw my -less sugar- more veggie idea into a tail spin.

So, I ventured into the weight loss section of the grocery store. Of course, slim fast is every where. One thing I didnt notice are these cool little candy bar type thinggies that have only 120 calories and 4 grams of fat. WOWser! I felt like I have been missing out.
Assuming ( key word here..) that these were weight oriented products, they wouldnt be horrid in thier ingredience.. I bought some.

Had 2 . Yummmmmers. Just yummmers.

Then I read the ingredience.. Confused
Malitol syrup ( uhh.. this causes water poops ) , Milk chocolate, sugar, partially hydrogenated vegetable oil, nuts, nonfat milk, sugar, corn syrup, brown sugar, sweetened condensed milk, skim milk sugars, whey...

No wonder I felt like a train wreck.
Sugar? In diet foods?

Ok, sugar is addictive. Sorry, it is.
Second, white sugar is one of the number one causes for obesity and type II diabeties.

So, slim fast's idea..according to me.. is to -
1) get thier customers hooked by loading them up with sugar
2) give them just enough sugar to where they wont lose weight TOO fast so they can keep getting thier money
3) Punish people for eating it by adding a LAXITIVE to thier product.

whats even worse, on the package it self it says Excessive consumption can lead to laxitive like side effects.....

How can one learn to eat diffrently if the products they consume feed the very addiction they have?

> grrrrrr!!! <

Are you telling us you're all cleaned out now, Shewolf?

Reminds me of the "Snackwells debaucle". Low fat diets were the rage of the 90s so Nabisco comes out with their Snackwells line. Low fat, full of sugar which resulted in tremendous weight gain when people ate them by the box.

hmmmm, sweet diet snacks, huh? How 'bout bittersweet chocolate? It's good for the heart and sweet enough that it's a treat.

or..... blueberries (fresh or frozen). Wonderfully sweet and very, very healthy. Blueberry smoothie with 1 cup frozen blueberries, 1 cup cranwater, 1 scoop whey protein is very refreshing. You can add an artificial sweetener, if you're so inclined.

hehe, I have Peanuts music in my head now, ehbeth.

Dancing isn't in the cards for me tonight but eating is. We're going to a spanish tapas place where I'll probably eat too much, drink too much and then wish I hadn't.

Oh well, you only turn 50 once. According to Noddy, I get to be uppity starting tomorrow, so watch out folks, I just might start really giving my opinions.

Set and I are supposed to be going to a Cuban jazz bar tonight - snack on some tapas. If I'm awake at midnight, I'll hoist a cerveza in your direction, J B.

<the odds on midnight aren't good - I spent most of the day at a Bar Mitzvah and associated Kiddush and I'm tiiiiiiiiiiiiired>

HA!

thankfully no..
I had one bar on.. ooohh.. tuesday I think?
Then another one 2 days after words.
I think that notice only applies to people who will either eat the whole box in a days time, or all at once.

I tried a while ago.. for almost 5 months.. no sugar and only fruits for sweets and , though I felt physicaly GREAT.. i craved sugars.
So, instead of denying myself a sugar treat, im trying to adjust and introduce sweet snacks into my diet.

I feel better doing that because I dont have the constant thought of " no.. cant have that.. " I stick to my diet changes when I allow myself little treats like that as well.

I do remember the snackwells craze. Rolling Eyes
I always wondered if I was the only one who noticed that the people who bought those things were.... never skinny... Confused

I apologize aforehand for butting in here, but shewolf is talking about something that has always drove me mad.

Why do people go for those diet foods, eh?! If something seems too good to be true, it damned well is. Mad

I'm glad you decided to just treat yourself to real sugar and treats shewolf. I think you'll be much better off. Rather than eating a bunch of crap that isn't as good anyways, just have a nice lil piece of something sinful once in a while.

Anyways, that's what works for me. Who can forgo beautiful chocos and cheesecake for the rest of their lives anyways?!

p.s. I'll leave you people alone now. Laughing
