bella what do they look like? mine have this rather large black strip along the bottom. they are kinda strange which i liked...heehee..i like to look odd on the course, not to mention i play with pink golf balls so no one ever tries to claim mine (what man would?)

i also bought some aisics? online today...the gel ones-thanks george. they were 29.99 on amazon...i am going to order sneakers on there from now on...man i guess having really big feet helps because i guess they don't sell out of my size Smile so with shipping and everything i bought 3 pairs of shoes today (2 pairs of golf shoes-one for me and one for mr. d) and aisics gels for a whopping total of $110!!! oh yeah. so i have break it down for mr. d-how much i actually saved today...heehee

us women, we try to rationalize it somehow...

ok i made it running this morning. bernie was so happy he pooped in the first half mile we were out there. Smile anyway, i am awaiting my new shoes but i figured, i am not getting any thinner waiting for them. so 2 miles, i probably walked about 0.333 of it and ran the rest. i guess they say from the beta blockers i will be weak until i get used to them and since i haven't been running every day recently, i havent gotten used to them (been 2 weeks on them).

however, i have noticed that my headaches are pretty much nonexistant. i used to get headaches at least 2-3 times a week and i haven't had one since i have been on the beta blockers. is it possible that my high BP caused headaches? hmmm have to wonder cuz i certainly haven't gotten my allergies under control...

Good to see you, Dag. I hope you can stop by more often.

Yesterday was another good day. Down another 2 lbs to 171.5. I'm back in my comfort range of 167 - 172 and my clothes are much more comfortable. Big doings here over the three day weekend so the rollercoaster will continue into next week. I'm glad I'll be on the low end of the range by the time Saturday's festivities begin.

Ribs, burgers, brats, hot dogs, potato salad, pasta salad, etc. Your all invited but bring your beta blockers!

I had a great weekend, was down to 174 and then we went to the party on Monday. I considered having one drink with vodka, but had a glass of red wine instead. 178 yesterday, so there you go!

I met with the nutritionist at my dr's office yesterday and she explained that people who eat lots of dairy (guilty), drink alcohol even moderately (guilty), and get lots of exercise (guilty) can devolop a sluggish liver and lymph system causing them to retain water and see an overall slowdown in metabolism (bingo!).

She recommended a two week 'flush' where I take lots of flax oil, cranberry juice, green leafy veggies, fruits and colored veggies, eggs, and lean proteins. No dairy, grains, artificial sweeteners, or alcohol during the next two weeks. I'm also to cut back on exercise to a 30 minute brisk (not fast) walk and simple toning exercises so I don't atrophy muscle, but nothing strenuous. After two weeks, I add whole grains back in, one at a time. Once I reach my goal weight (165 - 168) I can add dairy, limited alcohol and begin my normal workout routine.

She said it's possible/probable that I'll need to do the two week Phase I a couple times/year to keep my system flushed. I went shopping for all the 'stuff' yesterday and started today. 176.5 this morning...

.

i would like more info.
Basically that is my diet , minus the flax seed. I eat tons of greens. In fact, my breakfast 'drink' before I eat something is broccoli, spinach, strawberries, bananna and 1/2 apple in the blender with a sweet soy milk.
( if that gives you an idea of how I eat ;-) )
Any meat I have is fish. Maybe some chicken , but if it is , it is organic chicken.
I am walking everyother day for about 2 miles.
I dont drink though.. and I dont touch milk... >shudder<
I will spare the soap box of milk contents..

back in full gear. looking around for a boxing studio in vienna. biking everywhere helps, though the nasty flu or whatever is it that i had in india left a significant impact. will take a few days if not weeks to get back up...
so, who should i go with for boxing trainer: wolf schwarz or Isaak Kosashvili?

Maybe it's because I'm German, but "Isaak Kosashvili" sounds much meaner to me than "Wolf Schwarz", which is kind of normal. Go for the mean guy -- if you don't want to let out your aggressions and hurt your coach, what's the point in boxing?

yes, i like the sound of kosashvili. sounds like alikashvili and that was someone important. and tough. i'll check him out. i saw schwarz online, he sure looks menacing enough, too.

it does. Black wolf, that's pretty solid for a boxing trainer...

Shewolf, here's a typical day on the flush:

At wakening: 8 oz cranwater (1 oz pure cranberry juice with 7 oz water) with 1Tbs ground flax seed
Before breakfast: 8 oz warm water with lemon
Breakfast: fruit smoothie with whey protein and 8 oz cranwater (soy is not encouraged) or 2 eggs on a saute of leafy greens, red pepper, onions. Use broth instead of the oil for the saute.
mid morning: hard boiled egg (omega 3 enriched) or fruit depending on breakfast
20 mins before lunch: 8 oz cranwater
lunch: large salad with 4 oz protein (turkey, shrimp, fish), dressing made from lemon juice and flax oil.
during the afternoon: 16 oz cranwater, fruit snack
dinner: 4 oz quality protein (soy twice per week) with lots of veggies, 8 oz cranwater.

I've become addicted to cranwater. It's very refreshing.

It also encourages taking a supplemental multi-v, borage oil or evening primrose for GLA, and a 'liver support' supplement of milk thistle, dandelion root, and tumeric.

Dunno. As you may know, there has never been a documented incident of a healthy wolf attacking a human. Would you really want to beat up a sweet, cuddly puppy, even if it's black?

I had an ok day yesterday, foodwise. It was great until 7:00 last night. I hadn't eaten dinner yet and was famished. Famished is not a good place to get to and I know better, but that's the way things go sometimes. I had a feeding frenzie that lasted until 8:30 when I pulled myself away from the kitchen area and came upstairs to my office and A2K. Stairs are very painful on my knees so once I'm upstairs I tend to not want to go back down to find things to eat. I still managed to lose 0.5 lbs yesterday to get to 171 this morning.

I've stopped looking for 160 as a target. It's not reasonable for my age and metabolism. I used to reject the idea that the ideal weight should change as one ages. If my ideal was 160 at age 30 then why should it be different at age 50? I'm seeing now that 168 is a healthy goal for where I am in life and I've set it as my maintenance level. Sure, I'd like to be at 165 or less but it's not a weight I can maintain so I'm going to stop beating myself up to get there. I'm currently within my comfort range of 167 - 172 and my flush target of 165 - 170 is well within reach.

ugh i am stuck at 171 still. i hear ya JB! i shouldn't think that i can be at 30 what i was at 20, but i sure as hell am going to try. actually i am shooting for what i was at 22. i would be happy to be within 10lbs of that. had a little scare there as my monthly visitor was a few days late, but its here (thank god).

didn't run this am because we got in at 1230 last night after spending the eve with my bro and sis in law and 18 month old nephew. that can wear you out (the 18 month old i mean). will be bike riding hopefully with the mr. this afternoon, he likes to bike ride. and my new shoes got shipped so hopefully they will come soon and i will be off and running in my gels. Smile

Finally back to where I was after the "10-pound challenge" and before vacation.

Got in a short run at lunch, so my preparation for the 5K road race is still on track.

Good luck with the new shoes, dragon!

Poor Kosashvili, little does he know...
