dragon,

Don't push yourself or Bernie too hard. You'll both be up for the walks before long.

Noddy,

I'm glad you were able to get into the Dr before the weekend. The only alergic reaction I've ever had was to a sulfa drug. I broke out in a rash on about day 5. I hope you're feeling better soon and no rash derails your recovery.

Checking in at 227.2 this morning. Down 9.6 for the month, but some of that doesn't count because of the vacation gains. First time in six months I am under 230.00.

Had a couple of nice runs this week. Last night chugged around Central Park with bikers, bladers, runners, joggers, plodders and the occasional horse. Finished at Strawberry Fields.

Imagine.

Joe--

Your low humidity jogging isn't nearly as impressive as your high humidity jogging--but it isn't chopped liver, either.

It's more like slogging than jogging.

Is the steam rising from the hills around you?

The weekend has been wonderful gardening weather, but tomorrow Seasonable Weather returns.

I don't much like winter weather, either.

I support the transition seasons.

Joe,

awesome job being under 230! that is great.

i however am stuck in a rut at 168-170. i can't break out. its killing me. i also can't take the bernster running for two weeks (so the end of next week) and when i got up this morning, got dressed, went out the door and shut him in with his daddy, he started whining like crazy and scratching the inside of the door (which upsets daddy immensely since he painted the bedroom). so i went back inside and we climbed back in bed and he was happy. ugh, what am i to do?

today we have a heat advisory, tomorrow we have an extreme heat something or other, triple digit heat with over 85% humidity supposedly. i thought i might swim to work Smile

maybe bernie and i can walk 2 miles in the am, might take us longer but until the vet says he can run, i don't want to chance it. of course the vet said he would also be woozy until this morning and that pooch was out chasing a cat on saturday. i had to chase him down and put him on the leash and drag him inside. he is so excitable and i swear feels no pain (because he tears ass around the yard even after surgery). what to do, what to do.

anyway, bp is coming down slightly to 145/105 today hopefully this stuff will make more of a difference by week end...

Dragon--

This too shall pass.

I very much doubt that your doctor would be more liberal than the vet about strolling through the noonday sun--even though your new meds are working.

Can you survive another stationary week?

ok, sorry i took so long. i have survived this stationary week to only be 170, which isn't so bad. but there is still another 25 to get to my all out goal. so are you all up for another 10lb challenge? i think i need it. well if we do september 30th, that is 8 weeks away. so maybe 12lbs in 8 weeks?

not sure about the blood pressure haven't been able to check it recently. hopefully will have an update come monday. i did find out however, my cholesterol was 174, HDL (bad one) was 75, and LDL (good one) was 65. internist said he didn't quite understand it because my bp was so high and cholesterol was so good. conundrum. haha. sadly though it points to a more serious concern called renal artery stenosis. yeah that would explain my gazillion kidney stones i guess...

I'm trying to maintain through Tuesday. We're driving my daughter to camp tomorrow and will spend three days working our way down the Lake Michigan coast, staying in various B&Bs.

I'll be ready to join in again on Wednesday!

This morning I was 127--perhaps just a hair under if wistful thinking counts.

I hate plateaus--plateaux?

August is hot and sticky and miserable--a good month for dieting.

By the end of September, I could be 16 pounds lighter, but 8-10 pounds is probably a more realistic dream.

Off to the farm stand.

Dragon--

We shall overcome--although I don't particularly feel invincible right now.
Can you be invincible until Monday for us both?

If it's Sunday, it's check-in day. 225.6. That's down another two or so.

I gotta go for my morning run through the woods.... yes, there are woods in New York City.

Edit: Here's some pictures from this morning's run:

where I run, Ft. Tryon Park New York City

And there are views like this:

And today I got a real surprise on the trail;

Yes. That's a baby parakeet. I shooed it off the path onto the grassy meadow. No sign of a mom or dad about.

I'm glad I went out early. It wasn't too hot and I still lost a quart of water in an hour run....

Be well everyone. I'll check back later.

How do you know it was a baby?

It was littler than other parakeets I have known and it didn't act like it had any idea of what a person was, an adult would flown off in a second.

Today the humidity was low enough for a bit of mulch-spreading--and a large garden salad--and a bit of mulch spreading.

Which of the outer boroughs is home to the parakeet colony? I know it isn't--or wasn't--Manhattan. Perhaps your baby was carried off by a hawk for a hunting lesson and dropped by an inept pupil?

There are Monk Parakeets in Brooklyn. Ft. Tryon Park is about as far north as you can get in Manhattan. (Inwood is the next park up and is even wilder.)

There are probably many open windows in the city that never sleeps and eventually even a finite number of open windows are going to produce at least one breeding pair of parakeets.
