Hi eoe, Good to see you here.

I recently did an experiment where I gave up wine for a week, dropped 6 pounds of water weight, had one glass of red wine and gained 4 pounds. I got the idea from Noddy who also has a fluid retention problem associated with wine. I've sworn off wine for the duration. I'll probably have it occasionally once I reach my goal weight, but I'll do it knowing I need to system flush afterwards.

So your dilema from my standpoint would be to give up the wine and see how much difference it makes. If you *really* enjoy your wine and wouldn't be more put out by increasing the reps you could try that first to see if it gets you over your hump. You can always decide to give up the wine later.

from my understanding wine has a lot of empty calories in it. so giving it up would probably help you lose weight. i gave up caffine, not sure if that is helping but my main goal is blood pressure reduction so supposedly no caffine helps that too.

good luck!

eoe--

I'd eliminate the wine and watch the water weight vanish.

J_B--

You can do it.

dragon--

Into every life a little rain must fall.

I went out to lunch: soup, salad and entree. Three quarters of the entree--a delicious beef and mushroom casserole--came home in a doggie bag.

Virtue means leftovers for supper.

Have you heard of/looked into celery extract? It helps lower blood pressure.

I'm not sure that I believe in this:

www.metabolicfingerprint.com

but wouldn't it be wonderful to have official confirmation of a sluggish metabolism.

Of course the owner of an Official Sluggish Metabolism would have to eat less.

Interesting concept, Noddy.

I have some good news and some bad news. The good news is, I weigh 169.5 lbs!!! The bad news is, I've reinjured my knee and have spent the morning icing it to try to get the swelling down. I'm not exactly sure how I injured it. I went swimming yesterday and it seemed fine. I was stiff during the evening, but it was very swollen and painful by bedtime. I should have iced it down last night. I woke up every time I rolled over and by this morning it was noticeably larger than my other leg.

The upcoming retreat includes tons of walking so I'll need to baby it for the next couple days.

Looking for my Dominion.

Well kids. Even though I've already drank a gallon of water today and had a couple of meals, just weighed myself and it looks like I finally exceeded the 190lb mark for the first time....and a pretty lean 190.

Maybe I should juice and hit 200??? Just kidding...growth hormone. lololololllolololololgaylol.

J_B--

Bad news about the knee--but perhaps a sore knee will limit trips to the kitchen for little snackies. The good news is really good--169.5 is admirable.

dragon--

There is lots of time to be Very Good between now and Thursday. I've got alcohol/water weight from a festive weekend--but I've also got good intentions.

Sanctuary--

Sorry about the family problems. Remember, in your world you are the most important member of your family.

Two pounds? That's 1% of your total body weight

Slappy--

I'm tempted to organize the distaff dieters in a Give A Pound to Slappy Drive.

Back to moving mulch.

Hard to focus.
Flying to LA Friday and it's all I can think about.
One piece of good news: I'm wearing a hand-tooled belt I bought in SF
back in 75. And it's not uncomfortable.
Unfashionable, maybe...

168 this morning. looked in to the celery extract slappy...you weren't kidding, supposedly it is really good for joint pain, urinary probs, and blood pressure. it is almost like a cure-all! i think i might try it, i mean its like eating 4 celery stalks a day, it can't do that much damage if its bad right?

i will let you know how it goes. can i donate about 20lbs to slappy????

Congrats on wearing the 30 year old belt, George. I'm with you on travel distractions. I leave tomorrow and I'm running around like a mad woman trying to get everything in place for my family to survive for a week without me, get this week's and next week's work done, get what I need for a week on the road with a strange diet...

Why is it that when my husband travels all he has to do is lay his clothes out on the bed and carry his packed (by me) suitcase out the door and when I travel I turn into a banshee and make sure we all have everything in place? Never mind, it was a rhetorical question. I know they are a product of my own creation Rolling Eyes

My knee is feeling better today. I gave it 6 or 7 rounds of icing yesterday and kept it wrapped through the night. I slept better, the swelling is down somewhat and I can walk without much discomfort. I can't do stairs very well yet so I'm taking another day off from my workouts. Hopefully, I'll be back to normal tomorrow.

169.5 again today. Yesterday was day 7 of the 'flush' and it was the first day I had to fight off any kind of cravings. Maybe it was because I was feeling sorry for myself and wanted junk. Or, maybe my body is getting sick of eating only prescribed foods and wanted a break but I *really* wanted some cheese and some salty carbs. I gave in to a few pretzels but stopped short of pulling out the cheese. One more week to go and then I start reintroducing carbs and dairy. I can do it!

I tried on a pair of size 10 shorts this morning. Snug, but not uncomfortable. The 12s are starting to be too loose Smile

How goes the mulch pile, Noddy?

Thanks, dragon.

I forgot to mention that I checked my blood pressure this morning and it was 107/68, AMAZING!!!! It wasn't high when I started last week (119 over something, I forget), but it was getting up towards 140 a few weeks ago.

George--

Memories never go out of style.

dragon--

168 is progress.

J_B--

There is a big difference between Size 12 and Size 10 and you're almost there.

My mulch pile moves slowly. The temperature today was 91 degrees and the humidity was 80%. Even in the shade....

I love air conditioning.

I'm feeling charged and raring to go. I leave in a couple hours and if I can do even part of my flush, I'll be ok to continue when I get back next Thursday.

Week one stats:

Starting weight: 176.5 Today's weight 168.5 (8 lbs lost)
Inches lost:
Bust = 1.5"
Waist = 1.5"
Lower ab flab = 2"
Hips = 1.5"
Each Thigh = 0.5"

Jumping jacks and biceps/triceps done. 30 min walk - later.

George ~ Have a great trip!

Dragon ~ Keep on truckin, you're doing great.

Noddy ~ The mulch pile and your weight will continue to go down in sync.

Ay ~ Please check in, we're worried about you.

Slappy ~ You're six week detox is almost up. You can do it.

Happy losing to everyone else. See you next Thursday.
