Final Check-in (Week 6)

Starting weight: 175
Present weight: 170
This week's change: -1
Total change: -5

The goal was ten pounds, but I lost five.
I'll take it.

I intend to continue until July 14.
My goal is a six in the middle.
The following weekend I am off to the Left Coast for a reunion of sorts.

J_B--

I'm guessing from my own experience that alcohol causes you to retain water which puts your weight up and your morale down.

Are your rings tight? Feet and ankles puffy? Jeans hard to button?

Ask your doctor about a mild diuretic to eliminate the "false" weight so you can concentrate on real pounds.

dragon--

You're the big winner/loser. Congratulations. Back pain is back pain but I don't like the sound of your left side pain. If anyone else had funny physical symptoms you'd send them to a doctor, wouldn't you?

George--

You're a solid second place winner/loser. I'll take your challenge to Bastile Day and beyond.

Good timing, you're leaving the country anyway.

Is it really dead, or just needs a battery or something stupid?

Did you know that on the 12th and 13th and 14th of July the Marquis de Sade stood at the window of his prison cell screaming to the mobs to storm the Bastille and free all prisoners?

The jailors moved him before the mob invaded.

<sigh> She was a good car.

Ok, I'm in for losing a few pounds before the end of July. Now I have some extra incentive.

hi all,
it may be the end of the 6 weeks and i had hoped that i would have succeeded in losing a few pounds. i am heaps more fit than i was 6 weeks ago so that has to count for something.
a lot has been going on and am feeling a lil out of sorts these days but am hoping that things will improve....
my husband has banned me from bike riding; i fainted while riding to the children's hospital this morn. all i can say is that i am glad he was riding with me!
anyway, good work all you wonderful losers Smile
i hope to follow in your footsteps over the next few months.
I will persist until I succeed!

regards,

deanna

Deanna~

Please be careful! A wise man once said "all things in moderation."
More exercise is a good thing, but work into it by stages.

Any idea what caused the fainting? Fatigue? Dizziness?

Rest up.

Ne quid nimis.

Ay, I hope you are feeling better now. Is this your first fainting episode? I too am glad your husband was with you at the time. You've commented lately about feeling down and not being able to get out of bed in the morning. Have you been eating?

Take gentle care, Deanna.

Noddy, I am retaining fluids. I had to take my rings off a few days ago because my fingers were so swollen. That's when I starting drinking pure cranberry juice. It's somewhat better now, and I have sworn off any alcohol but I feel like I'm in perpetual pms. I will have to see a dr about a diuretic if it doesn't stop soon. The heat has abated so I'm hoping that will help some. In the meantime I'm using all the natural diuretics I have on hand such as fresh lime and lemon juice, apple cider vinegar, and the cranberry juice.

In years past I've seen an increase in my bp as my weight approached 180. I checked it yesterday and was pleased to see 119/68. At least I don't have that worry yet.

176 today and a cranberry flush under way.

Ay--

Fit counts for a lot.

If you absolutely, positively can't afford a doctor, at least find someone who will take your blood pressure. Here in the States, most drugstores have blood pressure cuffs.

Three cheers for your strong-minded husband. Listen to him.

J_B--

After the holiday weekend, make a doctor's appointment. The heat may have vanished for now, but in the northern hemisphere July and August tend to be on the warm side.

I assume you've cut way back on salt?

Right now you're in a vicious cycle. You bloat. You don't lose. You find the bloat discouraging. You eat. You bloat. You feel fat and ugly. You don't lose. You eat. You hate yourself.

Stop it. Hold your dominion.

Mr. Noddy had surgery yesterday and the dog missed him all night long. He's home today, ready to be cossetted. Company is coming tomorrow.

Remind me than none of these situations will be improved by nibbling or snacking or gorging.

Not all the fireworks exploding on Monday will necessarily be fueled by gunpowder.

Noddy ~~

Nibbling, snacking, and gorging are most certainly not the best means to make it through the upcoming weekend. A well timed glass of wine might be in order, however.

Best wishes to Mr. Noddy and his nurse. Have a nice visit with your guests. Perhaps you could encourage them to don the nurse's cap occasionally?

For me wine guarantees water retention. Now vodka and tonic....

Well, I too am where I was when I started, but this group has been so supportive that I am going to continue trying and reporting in here once in a while.

One of my problems is bingeing on sweets. I feel so awful the next day, including depression and bloating, you'd think I'd never touch the stuff. Hah. Intellectually that makes perfect sense--emotionally, it becomes a binge. I know what an addict feels like. Also, I have such a poor body image that if I gain a couple of pounds, it feels like I've gained ten pounds. Got on the scale this morning and my weight was where its been for a year now. Sigh.

Deanna, I worry about you. Please see if there is some way for you to receive medical care. Fainting is pretty drastic. Noddy's suggestion of finding a place where you can take your blood pressure in an excellent one. Please don't just let it go--early detection is a real life-saver.
