This morning the scales informed me I'd lost nearly two pounds. Part of my fluctating weight is due to the opiates in my pain pills. The codeine cuts the pain--and slows e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g down including my digestive tract.

I organized the Great Seasonal Shift between winter clothes and summer clothes and found that slacks that barely fit last fall are now very comfortable--even a little droopy. This is a very satisfactory state of affairs, particularly when the scales are so unkind.

Ay S--

One pound weights aren't all that weighty but they do help firm muscles.

dak--

I expect to find you featured in a graphic novel (what they used to call "comic books") any day now.

Clary--

In wine, truth....but truth is not found in the refrigerator.

way to go, noddy! it's all about how the clothes fit anyway. i'm extraordinarily happy with boxing, dunno what took me so long to discover that it's perfect for me. when not at boxing, am spending time with my new personal trainer, also extraordinarily happy. who cares about food...

I haven't been eating any less, actually, visiting my parents this week, I ate dessert more often. But, I continued hauling mulch, this time it was by the wheelbarrow-full and across a rather large, wobbly yard. Also, I rode my bicycle (once, was it worth strapping tothe car to bring tothe cape?) and hiked a good long hike along the national seashore. Haven't tried the scale.

Been on the cape withmy parents. Since my sister's family wasn't there, I didn't feel the need to escape into the internet.

Everything's been good with you, I've read.

What's a national seashore?

Or, is there any seashore which isn't a national one?

Just wondered.

Had lasagne (with salad!) and wine (two bottles, but not all drunk by me) last night, because my brother and his family came to visit.

Will step on the scales tomorrow.

And my oldest son is going home on Friday Sad
We are cooking all his fave foods this week ... hopefully that will make him miss us a lil bit Razz

Ran 5 km in less than 35 minutes today! I cannot tell you how great that makes me feel! I am so happy to have my health back Smile

well my test is finally over (don't think i passed it but only time will tell-it was freaking hard!) Grandmother came home from hospital and is doing well staying with my parents who can make sure she is taking her cumadin to keep her from forming clots. so my stress level has come back down. however, it didn't stop me from slamming the drinks down saturday night (not to mention the chocolate chip pancakes for lunch during the exam-needed something to make me feel better) and paying for all day yesterday and into this morning. fortunately i did do some pretty vigorous yard work yesterday (hung over and hating myself for it) so i am quite sore in the upper body today. headache this morning (leftover-i didnt think i drank that much) barred the morning run, but tomorrow should be all back to normal. amazingly, i was 172 on the scale. i have found that since i started eating 5-6 small meals a day, i can't eat that much at any one sitting anymore (which is good since dinner is usually around 8pm).

i guess as Noddy said, our stars have been off last week, maybe we need to force them back into shape.

George congrats on your daughter!

It's a stretch of seashore that is maintained in the manner of a National
Park. littlek and Dag are talking about Cape Cod National Seashore
in Massachusetts.

I had a sociable weekend with food and drink--and this morning the scales told the dreadful truth.

Here we go again....

Our weekend festivities went smoothly. I cooked and cleaned for two days straight, prepped and cooked some more all day yesterday, ate a hearty dinner last night and I didn't gain any weight over the weekend. I didn't lose any either, but at least I'm starting the week at 174.5 not something even higher.

WTG NODDY!!! Fitting into once snug clothes and hiking them up a bit is fabulous.

Dag -- your enthusiasm is inspiring. I hope to catch some of your spark while I turn on the workout burners again this week.

Ay -- if you feel great then you are great.

Alright George, let's get busy. We're done moving in the wrong direction! I'm going on an all out push for Thursday's weighin. See you on the track...

I hear ya. Four miles today.
Low carb breakfast and lunch.
I'm hoping the 176 was a spike and will level out.

The Atlantic Monthly has a regular column, "Word Fugitives" in which readers brainstrorm for words that ought to exist.

"Last December a reader asked, "What's the word for that restless feeling that causes me to repeatedly per into the refrigerator when I'm bored?"

Suggestions:

Cold comfort

Refrigerator magnetism

Smorgasboredom

Freonnui

Procrastifrigeration

Bored chilly

And the winner: Fridgety.
