Dag, maybe your daily caloric count is still too high to lose weight.

Write down what you typically eat every day. Figure out, best you can, how many calories you're consuming(include soft drinks, ect).

Then restructure your diet accordingly. I don't know if you're doing it, but spread the meals out over 5-6 times a day...4 at the very least, and cut down on the total calories compared to what you're at now. Don't cut it down drastically, maybe a few hundred a day...wait a few weeks, then re-weigh yourself. You know this, but you want to lose gradually, not all at once.

You can only gain weight, including muscle, when you're eating enough to support the gains. It's impossible for it to be "all muscle weight." But by lifting weights, your fat loss won't show as much on the scale as it will from a bodyfat % measurement...most gyms do this, you should ask a trainer at yours.

You've only "tortured" yourself for two weeks. That's hardly enough time to see any results. I've been hitting the gym since being sick for over a month, and while the bodyweight hasn't piled back on, I've got more definition, and all I care about is strength, which has gone back to about 75% where it was, and I know the weight will come back....point is, if you're improving in the gym cardio/strenght wise, the body improvement will soon follow.

The opposite to what Slappy said might also be true. If your total daily calorie intake averages less than 1200 cals/day then your metabolism will shut down and your body will do everything in it's power to hold on to whatever weight it has - fat and muscle alike - to prevent starvation.

Eat small, high quality meals throughout the day but make sure you're getting at least 1200 cals per day.

i am spreading my meals to five times a day. it's mostly tomatoes and fat free mozarella cheese, grapefruit for breakfast, fat free soup for dinner, the only snacks are raw almonds or grapes or more tomatoes. sometimes lean meat or fish with salad. i sinned in new york this saturday and had french fries and two manhattans, but other than that i've been good. stopped drinking any sort of alcohol. i do lift weights everyday and definitely can see the difference in my muscle mass, which is highly pleasing. my face is slimmer and all that, so i'm sure something is happening. i am just whining, i hate this waiting game.

Dag, if you can "see" the difference in your body, but not on the scale while lifting weights(right away), you're going in the right direction.

Stick with it, you're doing the right things...you're just being impatient.

Ignore the scale for now, get your bodyfat % tested ASAP, so you can really track your results. If you get it done at the gym, ask what the error margin is, there's different methods of testing, and they can be off by at least a few points, which is a lot.

And weigh yourself monthly, not weekly.

The University may have it somewhere, not sure.

If not, you could call your doctor...and you could probably buy something online to test it. I used to have a cheap one, you'd pinch a certain part of your body with it.

If you buy a caliper, this article tells you the method for figuring it out. And goes over different methods of testing.

I saw my Gastric Guru today for the results of the camera colonoscopy--zilch. Instead of moving downward and onward the little camera capsule spent eight hours filming the inside of the stomach.

Next week, after seven days of regulating meds, I'll try again. Instead of the purging laxatives, I'm going to be on a 2 1/2 day clear liquid diet if anyone wants to join me....

Meanwhile, this is springtime.

Ugh, I'm sorry to hear that, Noddy. I think if I had to pick between the two, I'd go with the clear liquids but 2.5 days sounds like a long time. Does bourbon count as a clear liquid?

Bourbon? Probably not. Gin or vodka? Clear as mountain spring water.

I did the clear liquid diet thing a cuppla weeks ago - before going into hospital. I noted that my diet sheet said I could eat jellies - so I declared a diet of jelly babies and champagne; at least it's cheerful! I couldn't wait to sink my fangs into something solid, and, of course, liquids only the day after the op .....arrrrgggghhhh!!!!!! I did survive!
