That “authentic” rabbit Dandan’s comment in PHF:
When we say that an electron has a quantity called "spin" we aren't talking about something rotating about an axis. Spin is a result of Quantum Mechanics merged with SR. (For non-Relativistic systems we can add a factor to the solution of the Schrodinger equation. You can see this most vividly by the solution of an electron orbiting a nucleus, hydrogen specifically. The solution simply does not work without spin included.) The spin is not in "real space", but in an "internal space." In fact, the electron has spin 1/2 and thus has to go around twice in order to get back to its original orientation!

The reason the term spin is used is because it does share similar Mathematical properties with the spin of an object in real space. It's unfortunate that rotation and spin have similar uses. The reason it has survived is because, while spin is not the same thing as a rotation, it still contributes to the angular momentum of the electron. So the notation will live on.

Ever since QM was born Physicists have tried to explain what's happening by analogy and many of those analogies don't do a good job of explaining it. Spin and orbital are terms that should probably be revamped. But we've been doing it for over 100 years so I doubt anything is going to change.

According to that “authentic” rabbit Dandan’s humble opinion, "spin" is something depends on certain outer environment to appear. It should not be the inherent property of the particle itself. Actually, it should be some certain kind of characteristic of interaction / movement and belongs to the second fundamental system of PRESENCE – PRESENCE.

Piggy has a bit research over the genesis of “spin” in modern physics.
It’s about the Stern - Gerlach experiment, as Dandan said in PHF:
Spin is very measurable. In fact, the whole Stern-Gerlach experiment set the foundation for Quantum Mechanics. Someone once told me that SG experiment can teach you everything you need to know about basic QM.

Below is piggy’s humble opinion:

In my humble opinion, perhaps some guys misrefered to the conception of “electron spin”, “spin angular momentum” and misassume “spin magnetic moment” in the explanation of the experimental phenomenon. Trouble came from two aspects.
1. Misconsider that the orbital angular momentum is zero when the electron is in ground state. Actually, the electron will not stop turning around the nucleus even when it is in ground state. And the “ground state” means only the electron is in “lowest” energy state. It demonstrates that the traditional method of description about orbital angular momentum in QM is insufficient.
2. The traditional thought about reference frame in 3D xyz space and traditional unilateral current concept (charge moves in a reference frame).
Below is a brief analysis in which I try to explain why atoms separated into two symmetric parts with the bilateral current concept (charge moves relative to charge). And I understand it better in my only way.
A. If view from the point of the nucleus, assume the electron turns around the nucleus counterclockwise on the paper, we got a single current clockwise. (Figure 1)
B. If view from the point of the electron, we got a single current counterclockwise. (Figure 2)
That will result in two different orbital magnetic moments in counter directions.
What will nature do? To be FAIR.
That’s why those atoms separated into two symmetric parts.

Because the electron can be in different energy levels of the atom, that means different orbital angular momentums and different orbital magnetic moments might occur. So, piggy estimates the spectrum will separate further step on the base of those two symmetric parts.

In the traditional conception of wavicle, both wave and particle are the characteristics of that thing “no matter what the hell we call it”, for example, such expression as “electron is both wave and particle”. It’s FACT.

Piggy really can’t find out in which year that guy won an “Oscar” Prize for physics or for astronomy.呵呵 But if you input Einstein’s name in the search engine, everywhere it would be: Albert Einstein won Nobel Prize for physics in 1921. But funny, it was in respect of QM, rather than in his great works of Relativity.

Nor it means PHF won out in science.

The 1 – “f” logic might work again on the Earth. The most happy guys of course would be the First Order. I’m very sure.

Actually, the classical kinematic energy Ek = (1 / 2) mv² is the approximation of low velocity situation of relativistic kinematic energy. Accurate mathematical derivation can be found in physics textbooks.
Also, view from the relativistic factor “γ”, the classical absolute space – time – mass is the approximation of low velocity situation of relativistic space – time – mass.
This point demonstrated that Einstein did break through the “absolute” limitation and push science one step forward into broader territory. From then on people explored nature in a deeper level / higher perspective.

To solve problems is the purpose.
There shouldn’t be a so called “standard model” in science. There is no a so called “standard model” in nature at all.
Human being is very tiny part in this great cosmos. They should be modest in front of cosmos / nature.

The history of science is “step by step”.

The “clockwise, anti-clockwise” could be considered as the inherent PROPERTY of vortices.

Mr. woody’s new model of particle and anti-particle is a bit better than those relying on Mass Point Dynamics, piggy thinks.
There is no such thing as “mass point” in nature. It’s just something abstract in theory, for the convenience in mathematical calculation in some occasions.

Of course, as piggy said once upon a time in the thread “matter vs anti matter”:
(Note: this is vivid analogy only. People in Southern Pole see a clockwise spinning Earth, while people in the Northern Pole see a counter clockwise spinning Earth.)

But the spacial property of spiral chirality would not change following the orientation of observation. Left – handed is left - handed, right – handed is right – handed. In piggy’s physics model, matter – anti matter or positive charge – negative charge are directly reflected by spiral chirality. The fact is that the property of charge would not change following the orientation of observation. An electron is just an electron, no matter people watch it in Southern Pole or Northern Pole of the Earth.


A question comes up: if the spring moves very fast nearly the speed of light, what will happen?
According to the space contraction principle (note: in piggy’s theory it should be in all directions), it will become a mini version.
Even the spring is stationary, we can’t “sure enough” what’s its real size. 1 cm? 1 mm? 1 nm?

Science needs explicit answers to such questions as:
Would the spiral chirality disappear in microscopic level (e.g. in the elementary particle level)?
The spiral chirality is natural property of space, if it would not disappear in microscopic level (e.g. in the elementary particle level), how can it be reflected?
A solution is that it would reflect in the structure of elementary particles.

Piggy agrees that the so called what Planck length is meaningless in physics. The 123 D space should be continuous, no matter in math or in physics.
Many such fringe theories will plague people until they doomed on the Earth.
The concept of quantization originally refers to energy in physics. Of course, different energy levels in atom might lead to quantization of angular momentum too.
Perhaps some guys feel quantum is fashion thing and try to quantize everything…It’s a mistake in science.
