Q: Could potential aliens really overcome the vast distances between star systems?

A. No. They're constantly being pulled over and their vehicle impounded because they always violate the IHOV law (Intergalactic High Occupancy Vehicles) which requires 3 or more aliens per spaceship to travel in the FTLE (Faster Then Light Expressway).

@tsarstepan,
Stepan - Q. Why in certain states and cities are private trash collecting companies so deeply connected to/with organized crime?

A: You've heard the expression 'money laundering'? - Well, our trash collectors get filthy and are therefore frequenters of commercial laundries & laundromats - they can launder the proceeds of crime as they launder their vestments! The 'deep connection' is explained away by 'deep soaking'

@coluber2001,
coluber - Q: Which is more important, questions or answers?

A: The answer is, Questions! Without questions this thread wouldn't exist! Even if other players don't post an answer, this Dant can still post questions! It would be ludicrous to post answers to questions that were never asked!

@P E Dant,
Q: During the Salem Witch Trials, why were 19 of the 30 guilty ones hanged and not burnt?

A: They were good swimmers. Suspected witches were thrown into the water. If they sank, they were innocent, but if they floated they were witches. After numerous trials they became waterlogged, and it was difficult setting them ablaze.

Q: Why are cartoon mice good and cartoon rats bad?

A: Most but not all rats are bad in cartoons. Remy becomes a famous rat chef who, along with dozens of other rats prepares a famous meal at a great French restaurant and a special dish called, Ratatouille.

@coluber2001,
coluber - Q: is it really possible for time to fly?

A: Yes! Sad I was once at a 'Queen' concert, shirtless, dressed in my black leather vest and snakeskin pants - when Freddie strode on stage everybody raised their left arm and shouted 'Freddieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee' - at the apex of my arm-raise I felt my brand new Patek Philippe watch fly off my arm! I heard a cry of 'Hallelujah!' from someone in the crowd and knew it had been found! Sad

@P E Dant,
Q: How come train conductor's don't have a baton?

A: They used to until one poor guy's baton attracted a lightening bolt. Now they clarify their title. "We're train conductors, not orchestra conductors nor electricity conductors.

@coluber2001,
coluber - Q: If a lightning bolt strikes water, what happens to the fish?

A: This depends entirely on the depth of the water! Surface swimmers, or sun-bathers (like the Sunfish - Mola mola) get fried... middle depth and deep swimming fish suffer nothing at all, other than a little excitement at all the surface activity as the sharks etc move in

@P E Dant,
Q: Who invented the revolving door, and why?

A: Aziz Abdullah, a Turkish door maker while on vacation in Istanbul got caught up in a whirling dervish convention in downtown Istanbul. While simply trying to cross the street to get a cup of Turkish coffee, he was caught up amidst the dancers and ended up a half mile down the street quite dizzy but still surviving. It was then that he was first inspired to create a new type of revolving door.

A: That is because since the beginnings of rolling out the carpet for VIPs, there would inevitably be insults and screaming about who's most important, most powerful, etc., resulting brawls, fisticuffs, sword fights and the like and blood would spill. It didn't provide a pretty picture, so those In Charge of Carpet Rollouts decided to just dye the damn thing red.

@coluber2001,
coluber - Q: Like TV did for the older generation, has the Internet made people smarter?

A: I don't think so coluber - In fact, the average person on the street actually looks more untidy than before TV! Gone are the days of people 'dressing up' to go to the movies or the theatre! Once upon a time people would wear their Sunday Best to go to a restaurant... nowadays anything goes! People once took pride in their smart appearance, but not so much anymore Sad

@Mame,
Q: Is the theory behind the "10,000 steps a day" fad a myth or true?

A: The 10,000 steps a day fad was originally a guide for sedentary millipedes, which equated to each of its 1000 feet taking only ten steps per day.

Q: What do plants think of global warming and increased levels of carbon dioxide?

A: Given that scientists have determined that trees communicate with each other and plants cry when being cut or injured, I think there is a great plot afoot to make the culprits pay. It may not be in our lifetime, but don't underestimate anger among living things. It could be they develop a poison to kill us all.

Part 1: Why do some people insist on saying 'him and her' went to the store and such? Do they? Shocked

Part 2: Don't they realize they sound illiterate? Do they? Shocked

@coluber2001,
coluber - Q: ...might more carbon dioxide in the air be a good thing at least from the viewpoint of plants?

A: Increased CO2 increases photosynthesis... now this might be a good thing for that 'special' crop you got growing down in the woods coluber, but it bodes ill for the rest of humanity! Have you not heard of 'the triffids'? No, not the vocal group, but that clan of mobile greenery what has designs on humankind! Sad
