I have a newly sort of blotchy face from some combo of possible beginning rosacea, thus from being irish and whatever I'm eating or drinking too much of - there is a long list of possibles - and about two years of many zillions of eye drops, at least one of which can cause undereye inflammation/discoloration at $110. a bottle.
No other wee bottle does the job that does though, so here's Pinky!

Faces are maps, that's the way it is.

Me too, osso. If it weren't for the rosacea, I could go back to just wearing lip gloss.

If I don't wear minimal amounts of make-up, people ask me why I'm so flushed. I've been using one of those "mineral" make-ups for a couple of years. (We had a thread about it a while ago.) It's very light, and takes down the redness pretty well.

Vitamin A for rosacea?

I'm using a prescription cream - brand name Metrocream. Chemical name is metronidazole. It helps with the blotches and pimples, but doesn't seem to do a thing for the redness.

there are lip stains out there.
you apply once every 3 or 4 days.
they are light , just like a lip tint but theydont give you that
spitty wet look like gloss.

lemme google this...

mac - I was guessing, I dunno if it'd work for rosacea. I do know that it helps to reduce blotchiness otherwise.

Wow, thanks shewolf

doesnt the cure for rosacea require a chemical peel of some kind?
>shudder<

i think the company LK is lipink.com?

they have all kinds of boothes in the malls here and I have 2 tubes of it. Works wonders. I apply it for about 20 minutes, wipe off.. go.
I am NOT a big bold lip color person. A little hue that matches my own and Im happy..
these products offer just that

I don't have blotches so much - even though I said that, as sort of redness, um, fat red streaks, where the cheeks fold anext the nose and mouth, and much more heavily on the side that gets all the g/d drops in the eye.

On the other hand, I've had wine or somesuch almost daily for years now. And eat a lot of the things on the rosacea list. We'll see. I haven't been to the dermatologist about it, have enough going on right now.

I should at least note the timing of it and the drops, and it and the wine, or chocolate, or whatever.

Osso, yes, keep a diary.....

Shewolf - I have no idea what color to look into. But, the eyelash tint is something I've been looking for for ever.

i agree about lip gloss making people look as though they are drooling, yuk! I do like make up to be fairly minimal.

I don't wear foundation as I've got fairly good skin, if a bit pale. I don't do tanning as I'm fair skinned and never go a dark colour anyway and hate fake tan.

I can't wear deep lipstick - it looks ridiculous - I don't think many people can really. I don't usually wear lipstick at all.

My eyes are my best feature and I just don't feel right without at least mascara but preferably a smudgy smoky eyeshadow as well.

well, i am also one of those who wore makeup since 15. light eyebrows and light lashes and generally my whole eastern european face ask for it. i have phases, right now i only wear eyeshadow and mascara, in winter i am more likely to do the whole 9 yards. or for the evening. i won't even go to the corner store without a mascara. the few times i didn't wear makeup, or just a very light one, my boss asked me, totally oblivious of my makeup changes, if i am feeling sick. no thank you. and i DO feel sick if i don't wear it. i like the way it looks and that's that. lipstick is tricky and annoying though. i don't do that much. and fake tan reminds me of leather bags - i call those women Prada bags. eeeeeech.

I haven't heard more than 1 mention about foundation and powder.

It doesn't need to be troweled on, but it sure evens out the skin tone.

I'm very fair and look washed out and too plain without.

I use L'oreal foundation, the palest or next to palest they make, so it's not like I'm trying to change my color.
Not too much, you need to just dot around your face, and smooth out.
Then, you take LOOSE powder of the same tone, tap a big makeup brush on the surface of the powder, tap the brush on a few places on your face (forhead, nose, chin, cheeks) and then, just brush it all down lightly, just so your face has a VERY light soft look.
That way, it doesn't even feel like there is anything on your face. I couldn't stand the feeling of having "stuff" on my face.
I picture my face as a canvas, and the foundation/powder as the base coat.

NEVER USE loose powder that has talc in it, that's what makes you orange and clumpy.

This part takes literally 1 minute, mascara about two, blush and eyebrows another 2.
I've never looked over made up. There's no stark line where it begins and ends, or red streaks of blush.

Subtle doesn't mean hardly wearing any make up to me, it means doing it in such a way that people see you as looking refreshed and natural, rather than splotchy and tired.
For me, just mascara and blush alone wouldn't cut it. Actually I think that would look more like I'm wearing makeup as it would stand out on the undone skin.

Makeup isn't a lie covering up your looks, it a enhancer to show the world your best features Cool

I just flipped through 11 pages of posts and was surprised that nobody offered the opinion that make up and cosmetic surgery are not evidence of sexual freedom but the results of a misogynistic(edit) male dominated society.

And it's getting worse. New teenybopper beauty products are being peddled to 9 and 10 year olds. 18 year old coeds are getting breast implants for their graduation presents.
Would anyone care to comment?
