Rocky whining when he lay a certain way yesterday had me concerned. I finally figured out, after I found a run over cactus in the yard, the likely source. The cactus was close to two feet tall. I thought it was safe or I would have protected it. If any needles are still giving discomfort he will just have to wait them out, as I can't find any to pull.

@edgarblythe,
Good. Seems like the old one wasn’t worth rebuild or something didn’t go right.
For some reason I can't post videos on A2K but I can on FB, I'll sent you a clip of Penny the rescue pup trying to kill a fluffy squeaky toy by beating it against my legs. She's been with us since June and is trying to figure out who we are, why is she here, maybe it's not all that bad, hey I get to jump on the sofa. You know...all the stuff dogs need to figure out before they let you keep them.

Going to Providence by bus from San Antonio, we had a layover in NYC in a big terminal. Seemed like an hour's wait. I don't recall. Maybe longer. I sat on a bench after following my three year old son around the floor for a while. My attention never left him for an instant. There was another boy about his size also wandering about. One who had the appearance of a street person approached the other boy and he knelt and told that boy to hit my boy. My boy kept on minding his business and nothing happened. Then the man made a big mistake. He approached my son and lifted him off the floor. I was instantly in his face and after getting my son back on the floor laid the man out. I took my boy either to the restroom or something, I no longer remember. As we returned the man stood in the lane waiting for us to approach. His fist was made. I walked on as though oblivious of him, but ready to act. My close approach and stalwart action made him unclench the fist. He gave a mealymouthed grin and said, "Hi," as we went by.
We got on the bus and resumed our trip.

I mentioned that I use a cane for long distance walks. After enough practice I realize the art of the cane is more complex than simply putting it down to support the steps of a particular leg. If it is too long one tends to bear down on the cane. This causes the other leg and hip to be out of kilter because this lifting action causes that leg to receive repeated shocks similar to jumping. I had to buy an adjustable cane because the original is two to three inches too long. It should be delivered in a few days.
Himself and your good self would have made a fine pair of dandies out for a stroll.
Maybe a ramble up the Monto, I think not.
I hope the new cane works better for you Ed.

@edgarblythe,
What about about those canes with the three points sort of like a mini tripod? They have a pivoting head that his 3 tips. I think they’re more for people that are having more balance problems, perhaps.

I've considered the three legs but rejected the notion because of my propensity to swing the straight cane a bit wrong on occasion. With three tips I would likely be tripping myself. One must likely be a more deliberate walking person than I be.
I like seeing the bit about Joyce. I love the old fart, in spite of the fact I can't get a good bite into Finnegan's Wake.
