Neither the Democrat or Republican Party are the same as they were in the 1940's and 50's... Southern States became disaffected with the Democratic Party, and nominated Strom Thurmond to run for President as part of the DixieCrat Party. Strom didn't make it and after that many democrats left the party and joined the republican camp.

I'm not making a detailed argument or explanation of the differences....just saying that Strom was one of the first to switch Parties.

The way I see this thread is this.

1) McGentrix started this thread to say that you can be a Republican and not be a racist.

2) Izzy and friends came to insult McGentrix and point out that all Republicans are racists and fascists.

3) I come to support McGentrix and argue that you can be a Republican and not be a racist or a fascist

So who the **** is highjacking this thread? This is the ultimate power grab by the liberal in-crowd, suggesting that they control a thread that someone else started. It is ridiculous. They are here to make an extreme argument and to insult everyone who disagrees.

McGentrix... you are the OP. It is your call. But, I think Izzy and friends are being assholes.

If McGentrix tells me I am out of line, I will shut up. (The rest of you idiots I don't care about, it is not your thread and it is not your forum).

Sorry... but this is ridiculous.

The point of this thread (if you read the OP) is to denounce racism. Izzy and Frank and Region seem to have a problem with that-- a group of self-righteous hypocrites. They are literally saying that everyone who supports the Republicans, including McGentrix, is a racist and a fascist.

Not all liberals are like this... I want there to be clarity on this point.

This is a fine summary. Izzy and friends are being themselves. Can't ask a skunk to change it's smell so I don't bother. Pretty sure most of them aren't even Americans so their opinions really count for about jack ****.

McGentrix reached out across the political chasm, he stood up against racism and pushed back against his own side. This is an opportunity for a real dialog, and a chance to stand up for something with people outside of your own ideological bubble.

He also denied that the top of the Republican party is actively promoting racism/racists beliefs in light of the evidence, e.g Trump retweeting White power tweets. That's not standing up to racism and pushing against his own side. That's being obtuse to it.

I'm not suddenly enlightened and becoming a Democrat. My beliefs haven't changed but I am put out by what I see here. Trump may have retweeted something but what are the odds he had a clue who the tweeter was?

There's not a Republican alive that doesn't wish Trump would put the Twitter away... But, it is his direct line to the public. When battling such a belligerent media that will go to any length to smear him, he needs that.
