Do Warner Bros. and Disney still dominate the TV toon market like they did in the late 20th century?

The Duck Dodgers movie didn't have to be based on the series, it could have just been based on the classic Duck Dodgers shorts.

There's only about two or three of them.

@izzythepush,
Apparently, two shorts was enough to inspire an animated series that lasted for three seasons.

@JGoldman10,
A film based on either the original shorts or the TV series would not have done well at the box office due to the failure of the Looney Tunes: Back in Action film and the relative obscurity of the Duck Dodgers cartoons.
As of now, there is no legal way to watch the Duck Dodgers series. It is not available anywhere in streaming, video on demand.

To repeat: As of now, there is no legal way to watch the Duck Dodgers series. It is not available anywhere in streaming or video on demand.

Warner Bros did not upload the episodes on YouTube or Dailymotion. It was done by someone who had no copyright claim to the episodes.

@Rebelofnj,
I liked it, they showed it on the Cartoon Network over here. The episode with Tom Jones was pretty good.

Ads popped up on YouTube announcing Disney Plus is showcasing classic Disney Afternoon cartoon shows on their streaming service.

When is WarnerMedia going to start showcasing classic Warner Bros. cartoon shows on their streaming service?

@JGoldman10,
WB recently announced a rival streaming service called HBO MAX, which will show content from their owned properties as well as their HBO shows.

Part of the May 27 launch is Looney Tunes Cartoons:

@JGoldman10,
Classic WB and Hanna-Barbera cartoons will appear on the service

"In addition to new productions, the service will offer 250 classic Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies shorts, every episode of The Flintstones and The Jetsons, as well as classic shows and shorts featuring Josie and the Pussycats, Popeye, Scooby and Scrappy Doo and Yogi Bear."

@Rebelofnj,
Hi. I was just curious about this. What about the classic WB cartoon shows like Animaniacs, Pinky and the Brain, Tiny Toons, etc.?

What about the classic animated DC Comics cartoon series that WB produced?

I know WB is planning on producing an Animaniacs reboot series to be shown on Hulu.

@JGoldman10,
The classic DC animated shows are available to watch on the DC Universe streaming service, which may fold into HBO MAX.

I'm guessing the Steven Spielberg produced shows you mentioned will stay on Hulu for the time being until the streaming license expires.

@Rebelofnj,
Why isn't WB showcasing all the classic Looney Tunes shorts on HBO Max? I know they want space to showcase new animation but that makes no sense.

@JGoldman10,
WB does have the Boomerang streaming service, which probably has a more compete library of classic cartoons.

It is also likely a license issue. For example, Disney cannot show their own produced film "Into The Woods" on Disney Plus until late 2020, when thestreaming rights revert back to Disney.

Didn't WB own Hulu at some point?

No. Warner Brothers AKA Warner Media never outright owned Hulu. They owned a small share after the streaming service was created. Hulu was founded and owned by several competing media corporations.

Quote:
On March 22, 2007, NBC Universal (owner of NBC and Universal Studios) and News Corporation (owner of the Fox Broadcasting Company and 20th Century Fox) announced the creation of Hulu, with a $100 million investment from Providence Equity Partners and Internet distribution deals with AOL, MSN, Myspace, and Yahoo!.

KidsWB.com does have an extensive collection of Looney Tunes cartoon shorts, both old and new, and Looney Tunes-themed cartoon shows.

However I don't feel comfortable visiting a site intended for children, even if it's for research purposes. That's just weird and I don't have kids of my own.

@JGoldman10,
It is not like people are watching you visit KidsWB.com. I use the Cartoon Network app to watch Steven Universe.

Besides, it appears that all of the videos on KidsWB.com are available on their official YouTube channel.
