@Ragman,
Thank you, there's a bit of a surreal feel to the country right now. Having said that the woman at the car boot had plenty of 25p England car window flags still for sale.

From here on out....

1. I support a country whose name starts with a vowel over a country starting with a consonant.

2. If #1 is a tie, I support the country that is later in a alphabetized list.

Go Uruguay! (I have close friends from Uruguay, so I would root for them anyway)

@izzythepush,
As seen on twitter:
Andy Murray isn't playing at Wimbledon this year. He also didn't play in 1966. IT'S COMING HOME!

@lmur,

(he wasn't even a gleam in his father's eye until 1986... just sayin'...)

@lmur,
If you look at the definitive guide you'll see that in 1955 the Beano Annual was just Biffo and a drum.

https://stellabooks.com/images/stock/377/377947.JPG

The most recent annual is nothing like the winning one. No Biffo, just Dennis the Menace out in space.

At least they're both wearing shorts.

@lmur,
Thank you. (I've watched the match 1966 in England, on tv. The Scottish friends agreed with me that ...)

@Walter Hinteler,
There should be plenty of Russian linesmen about.

Wow, it was supposed to be closer than that.

For being a very young team, France has shown a lot of poise.

@InfraBlue,
The second goal was helped by a lack of precision of the Urugayan goal keeper, who could have stopped Grizou's shot.

@Olivier5,
The stutter step on that first goal... and the header... was pretty nice.

If the other team lets them play, the French play.
If the other team is physical, the French are physical.

The winner of their semi-final will be world champion.

@Olivier5,
Certainly. At this level of play, those errors are inexcusable. It's an addition to the failures of the Uruguay team. The other being an inability to score even one goal.
