@edgarblythe,
You realize that if you voted for Democrats to control the agenda, the “stupid wall” would never come up for a vote. The president doesn’t control the legislative agenda. You may have 18 Democratic senators who would vote for it if attached to a broader immigration bill, but they’d never have that choice to make if they were in power.

"18 Dem Senators Vote For Trump To Spy On You Without A Warrant"

You're fighting a losing battle here. Most Americans want our government to have the tools necessary to protect us from those who seek to brutally murder us.

You're certainly free to have the viewpoint that you hold. But understand that most Americans will cast votes to the contrary of this viewpoint.

Also I don't want Democrats voting to build that stupid wall.

Yet you cannot articulate any reason why the wall is such a terrible thing.

A wall won’t keep people out.

It’s a monument to stupidity. A kabillion dollar monument to stupidity.

The President would still have a veto if the Democrats controlled Congress. They'd still need to compromise with him and offer him something that he wants in exchange for something that they want.

Walls have usually managed to keep people out in the past.

That they would vote for a stupid wall now says they would vote for other stupid things, before or after 2020.

Perhaps, but so what? It is something that the President wants. And compromising to get DACA passed involves offering the President something that he wants.

Yes it is. You stop doing stupid stuff to be worthy of a vote.

@oralloy,
The wall should be painted every few feet on the Mexican side with a large sign;

WE STOLE THIS LAND FROM YOU PEOPLE IN ANOTHER OF OUR FAMOUSLY ILLEGAL WAYS AND WE DON'T WANT YOU COMING TRYING TO GET IT BACK!

@oralloy,
Quote:
the Democrats used the nuclear option to force Obama's nominees through.
The democrats used the nuclear option to force Obama cabinet nominees through, because the republicans were not allowing up or down votes of his cabinet nominees at an unprecedented level. Let's be clear, cabinet positions are not lifetime appointments. The democrats never used the nuclear option to force Obama's federal judges or supreme court nominees through. The then Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid made sure that the nuclear option only applied to cabinet positions and not be applied to lifetime federal judges or supreme court nominees. This is a clear important distinction.

Quote:
When the Republicans blocked Obama's Supreme Court pick and then used the nuclear option to force through Trump's nominee, they were merely giving the Democrats a dose of their own medicine. Giving the Democrats a hefty dose of their own medicine is often the only way to make the Democrats curb their abusive behavior.
As I stated above, the democrats never used the nuclear option to force through any federal judges or supreme court nominees. Only, this republican congress is guilty of this behavior.

@Real Music,
Not to mention "a dose of their own medicine" would have been to apply the same rules to cabinet picks...not SCOTUS picks.

Using an analogy, what the democrats did was like taking a vicodin and what the republicans did was mainline heroin. A 'dose of their own medicine' would not have included amplifying the issue.

@maporsche,
I agree. If someone is going use analogies to make their argument, they should at least compare apples to apples.

That's what happens when you hide in your dark, safe little cave, Finn. I've been here for a while. You oughta get out more, tackle something other than the pablum.
