Yay!
Sozlet eating an orange this a.m., messily. Looks frustrated, says, "I wish oranges didn't have orange juice in them."
Soz, I can almost feel her sticky fingers and see the juice running down her chin. Smile.
Gautam!!! Uncle Gautam!!! You will be wonderful--you have the personality that will always appeal to children--and that is meant as the greatest compliment.
Finally, I'm smiling in complete joy because Dys is recovering from his stroke. I fully intend to have him around for the next 40 years.
Humm, nothing has made me smile today, but i know something will, eventually.
Hey, musikQueen. Welcome to A2K. Does your moniker indicate your profession?
Diane, sorry to hear Dys had a stroke. How awful. Very glad to hear he's recovering. Dys is good folk. <nods>
still grumpy. Does anyone remember the thread I started (I don't even remember if it was here or there) about walking into walls? I'm in one of those phases again. I become more accident prone periodically and sometimes I walk into walls, but other things happen too. I backed into a curb tonight (hard!). I smiled because of one of the other things I did. I won a prize at an art supply store down the street from me. I was going to reply to the email, but I read that they wanted me to just go in and claim it (not reply to the email). So, I went to close the respond email I'd opened, but I hit send instead. OOps. So Utrecht's got a blank response from me. Still giggling.
Among many more significant things that made me smile today, there was this cartoon.
Its got this man, and his therapist. The man goes, "I try to have a positive outlook on life and believe in the possibilities it offers." (I'm both paraphrasing and translating, by the way). The therapist, goes, "that's good, John". "But it's hard, though", John continues:
"Want de wereld is een grote klotezooi en we gaan allemaal naar de sodemieter". ("Because the world's one big f***ed up mess and we're all going to hell").
(Heh)
yeh, little k, i only read your post just now after posting mine - i guess i had appropriate timing, huh? <grins>
congrats on your prize tho. (your art supplies store is called "utrecht"?)
The the name of the closest store. They're a chain. I think it's a pastels set.
I hope this isn't too blue... had me giggling for a long time.
The sign for vagina is to make a diamond shape (this also sends me into badly hidden hysterics when her class sings the "like a diamond in the sky" part of "twinkle twinkle little star", and dance the little "diamonds" around).
So she put her fingers together in a way that the diamond was very small, and said "guess what this is??" I said er, um, what? She said, "A mouse vagina!"
This is also making me laugh -- she climbed on my lap, I said, "I'm telling them your mouse vagina joke," and she started pushing my hand away, "Let ME tell it!!" Her telling below:

Utrecht is also a city in Holland, LittleK.
"Sodemieter".....hahaha! Haven't heard that in ages, Nimh, so that made me smile.
I also smiled when back in the supermarket, early this morning, where a check-out lady gave me a giant hug and a beautiful thank-you-card full of blessings.
Funny.
(I live in Utrecht)

Yeh - <grins> - the joke in itself made me grin, so thats why I posted it - but the word choice helps. For most of the past two years now, I spoke English at home, read and wrote everything for my work in English - allathat - and to my surprise I have in reaction developed a sentimental fondness of "real Dutch" (as in, train station-neighbourhood-pub-soccerfield-Dutch rather than policy-paper-polite-conversation-Dutch). The more colourful, colloquial and heartfelt, the better. Well, this one fits the bill <grins> - you can
hear him say it ;-)
So lemme get this straight...I've missed a lot here. Dys had a stroke, but is recovering (thank goodness; my thoughts are with him.); NIMH is now living in an art supply store in Cambridge and no longer speaking Dutch; and the Sozlet has taken over Sozobe's screenname, if only temporarily. Is the Sozlet a Green Bay fan? Is that why there's a cheese head in her avatar?
Soz, that's so adorable! Big smile at Sozlet's joke.
Nimh, I figured it was a family name, maybe they're named after the city? Should I ask?
Hi Terry!
hehhehheh ...
's what you get if you decide to live together with an American for a while ... you end up living in an arts supplies store. ehm, i mean you dont get to speak your own language anymore.

Thank you for the welcome. My profession is being unemployed. Looking for something that will pay the bills, art is just a hobby for me.
