This happened Monday night, but I'm still smiling from it.

I called my Dad to see how he was feeling. He got his flu shot in September, but managed to get the flu anyway. Had a nice chat with him and said good-bye.

Not five minutes later my phone rings and I hear my sister say 'hold on' and then I hear my niece ~ 'Auntie Rae Rae, you cannot call dis house widout talking to me' ~ very indignant and I could picture her stomping her wittle foot on the ground.

So, we talked about kid stuff and then Grampy. I asked her for a huge favor 'could you get a BIIIIIIG glass, fill it with water and ice and take it to Grampy?'. (He's not drinking enough fluids.) My niece says 'sure, sure, sure I can do dat'.

Such a cute kid. Very Happy

Miss Letty,

Smiling gets a little easier to do every day. Especially with a cute, blonde, three and a half year old actually wanting to talk with me now! Shocked

Careful ladies! I go from smiling to sobbing very quickly these days!

Thank you both though.

Today I went to a Memorial Service, a beautiful service it was.

It didn't make me smile, but I did do some crying, not for the deceased, because I didn't know her that well, just for the whole life 'n death thing that we all face someday.

I smiled because of all the lives this lovely lady touched, and I will remember her for that.

Ok, I had a few smiles at the developing relationship between Eliza and the new nanny who'll be taking care of her starting tomorrow.

I laughed, so sorry, when I read BigDice's post that read "I freak out!" It reminded me of mispeaks by friends who don't speak english as a first language. And then that made me miss my former housemate Dagmaraka and my current housemate Francesca.

Grumpy grumpy grumpy.

Damn, it has gotten cold in Virginia. Damn cold. Maybe 15 degrees in the early morning. I left my house, heading east on Rio Road (a long -i- on the pronunciation of Rio for a strange reason. BTW).

There was an incredibly beautiful sunrise over the little mountain range to the east. The sun was still down at 7am but the clouds over that area were almost blood red. I pulled into the parking lot at Hardee's to watch for a minute.
I heard the announcer on my local NPR station suggest that, if we could do so safely, we should stop and look at the huge "paper moon" that was setting in the west right then.
I didn't see that today. But I did see it yesterday.
Probably not tomorrow. It's starting to snow. And it sure is cold. -rjb-
