cats are so easy sometimes...
This one's somewhat bittersweet:
I've always joked that our management team (population sixteen) at work is "one great big dysfunctional family." When a comrade's aunt passed away this week, seven of our remaining members attended the wake. Three more would have gone, but "somebody has to mind the store." The look in CEW's eye's when we all arrived at the funeral home meant so much.
My pre-teen taking a short-thrift shower.
Attending a HUGE antiwar rally in my city .... At last, a chance to say NO!
this, From the album "Fever In Fever Out" ... made me smile. and a dinner reservation. heheheh ... and a phone call with a "happy valentine's day" - oh I am SOOOOOOOO spoiled.
what do you feel when you look into my eyes baby
does it come to you as a surprise?
i don't care what
other people say
just as long as i'm here with you
won't you come closer...
'cause i can't seem to find
a way to go now
CHORUS:
electric...when we're together
so electric...feelin' like this
all the times we stayed up
all thru the night
laughing and dancing 'til the sun come out
then later, when we're lying together
even our stomachs...
they're speaking to each other
i kiss the ground, i run my fingers through the earth
yes it feels so good to be alive
CHORUS
kiss the ground
(plant the seed deep)
run my fingers through the earth
(within the heart)
yes it feels so good to be alive
(like a child our love grows bigger everyday)
kiss the ground
run my fingers through the earth
yes it feels so good to be alive

And a note from an ex-b/f for vday.
My Wife!!!! (well, that's everyday!)
my smile today came from waking and not finding a tag on my toe.
My smile came from reading dyslexia's post just now.
A coworker invented a new word accidentally, "uniquify".
Uniquify. I like that.
Just got a voice mail from the driver of the car service we use for visitors, and he always cracks me up. Profoundly competent Irish gentleman, but with a cultivated air of bemused confusion and merriment. "I've never had a problem with skis before, we just stick 'em in the car and as long as the passenger doesn't mind the pointy ends jammed in their ear in the front seat, we're all right."
An attractive woman smiled at me as we crossed paths as we each walked to work. A relatively quiet street. A nice moment, for sure!
The fact that my vacation started just about an hour ago. . . Now THERE'S a smile!

A little smile from my wife made me smile today! Then I had to go to work, on a Saturday - RATS!!!!!!!!! Have fun Terry!
I actually found a Googlewhack, and I posted it!
Yesterday blessed me with a smile I almost forgot: One of my coworkers whined to me on the thirteenth that she'd be spending Valentine's Day without a valentine, so I assembled a basket of goodies for her and left it on her desk yesterday morning. Her childlike enthusiasm had me beaming. It felt so good to make her day.
Today's been full of smiles. I got a call early this morning (about 10:45) from a pal who invited me to go to the movies with her and two other buddies. Great movie and great company was well worth braving the cold. When I got home there was a package from another very thoughtful friend sitting on my doorstep. <grin>
I smiled just now when I checked in to read this whole thread and saw nimh's post on bookcrossing in Firenze. Serendipitious-ness in a city I love, a vicarious pleasure.
