(Gotta figure out how to do a screenshot so I can prove this one... if you go to http://start.earthlink.net/ quick you might get it.)

Headline on their new fancy-pants newsbrief thing:

DUGS SEIZED IN AUSTRALIA

(Think she slapped the seizer?)

To make a short story brief I ended up offering to hose her down when we got back home...but my wife angrily refused, so I just hosed down the dog instead.

James Morrison gave me a good laugh this morning!

I presume he's not the trumpet-playing one?! That one makes me smile when I hear him.

Speaking to my friend Dragonma in Canada ... I first encountered her on Abuzz, and from there we became great friends. She is truly a star in the night!

That made me smile!

hahahaha hohoho, yes, those were great. it is a great device if your hearing is poor and you don't want to wear the miracle aid, or whatever it is called. very subtle maneuvre it is, indeed. b/f's friend scott who went out with us and littlek last night has developed the idea further today (came for a bikeride) - we will go into manufacturing ear cups from natural cow leather. possibly with fur, so that they make you feel like a wild animal. now that made me smile.
i cooked for the boys - eric and scott went for a loooong bikeride, so i made a slovak thick veggie soup with noodles and an orzo eggplant/spinach/green tomatoes/portabella mushroom rizotto with loads of garlic. boys were so in awe, i wasn't just smiling, but grinning ear to ear (no cups this time). good weekend.

The turkish guy was there playing his turkish flute in the train station when i came back home - like he pretty much always is when i come back from pretty much anywhere.

Except that this time he was (as i figured out humming the tune along for a while afterwards and trying to figure out why something sounding so oriental should seem so familiar to me) a Santa Clause tune.

(Santa Clause here being an ancient, Dec 5, true Dutch traditional holiday ...)

Roger got to bunk with Fred. Good companion, but kind of a fidgety young feller. It was a great visit.

We also have Saint Mikulas (Nicolas) on 5th December. Can't wait, though there is little chance anyone here will know what it's about and he may forget to stop by and stuff my polished boots left by the window... :-(

Today when we were buying kitten food (which made me smile, itself), there were some old wilty roses leftover from date nights that were being sold at a discount. Sozlet REALLY wanted one, I went ahead and got it, she clutched it and took deep, happy sniffs.

On the way home, I looked in the mirror and saw that she was plucking off petals. "Be nice to your rose!" I said. She gave me a very earnest sidelong look and said, "But Mama, he [the rose] loves this part." Shocked

Am I raising a future Fred-tormentor?

yesterday, that black cat that belongs to some neighbour. he was on the outside looking in, and when i came close to the window, he started ferociously nuzzling up against it, seemingly incomprehensive at why my hand wasn't there.

in the end i gave in (tho i shouldnt, being allergic), and opened the window, he jumped in. after giving him a moment, we started this game - i would put him out at least in the hall, to see if he would not prefer just going home - he came back in. i put him outside (where, admittedly, it was cold), to see if that would not make him run to where he really belonged, but he jumped right back in through the still-open window.

well, in the end he left, all by himself, anyway - i could tell by the excited shrieks of a family just passing by, who must have witnessed the moment when he wurmed himself through the window opening, balanced on the windowsill, and pondered whether he dared jump out or not.

Being woken up this morning by an unexpected phonecall from an amazingly beautiful and attractive (to me at any rate) woman made me grin from ear to ear this morning.

Just snagged a headline sponsor for a major event that is only 4 weeks away. (Original sponsor backed out at the last minute, leaving us high & dry with all the advance publicity already out.) I am grinning from ear to ear! I will sleep tonight.
