great day at the fair today with my best friend of 45 years, and her daughter. a university buddy (I've know t.a. for over 40 years - mind-boggling) joined us for the evening concert. Burton Cummings put on an amazing show - 2 hours straight out rock and roll - fantastic for a guy who will be 70 in a couple of months. We also saw Elvis Stojko perform in an aerial / ice show that was astonishing. oh and a cooking demo by Jamie Kennedy. It was a lot of a day - and the rides were fun!
I got to watch a crew stuccoing a new restaurant. The guy spreading it on the exterior was on about an eight foot scaffold. The guy mixing the batter was on ground level. Every minute, the mixer would just toss a mess of that stuff up in the air. The guy on the scaffold never missed. That must have been backbreaking for the guy tossing it, but they looked like they were having fun. Everyone in the old restaurant with a window seat loved the performance.

Pulled the plug on grid power today.
Haven't used it much for a month, but all systems go with the storage for solar.

I was on my way to Greenwich Village. The streets were mobbed (more than usual) with people looking at the eclipse. It seemed as if whole buildings had emptied out onto the street. People had all kinds of devices to make seeing the eclipse possible.
A neighbor let me look through hers. I was bedazzled. Ain't nature grand?

Sat outside a cafe in Copenhagen when I spotted a friendly looking dog being walked. He just shoved his head in my hands, getting a stroke in passing, even friendlier than I thought.
Leaving for vacation in about an hour. Back in a week or 2

A photo on FB of my best friend of the past 45 years with her sister and two great online friends. Looks like they had a terrific lunch together. Four beautiful smiling women.
In a sad way, the demise of Cassini - the smile was for all its accomplishments and reams of data that will take decades more to be turned into bountiful information
..oh, and humorist. One thing for sure, she failed -- no matter what she thinks. She must not signup for the Mars program! It did make me smile though.
