@cicerone imposter,
It's usually the father and his male friends and/or close male relatives going out for a pub lunch and a few drinks within a few days of the baby's birth.

@chai2,
It's always interesting when idioms that seem common to one of us are unusual to others.

To me, wetting the baby's head is as common a saying as how are you ?

@ehBeth,
That just made me think of something that was said today.

Ok, I'm going to say it, and you tell me what you think it means....

"Can you go see if he's wrapped up?"

@chai2,
I'd think someone wanted to know if a speaker had finished talking, or if some sort of project had been completed.

@ehBeth,
Good Morning.

I just asked Wally and Wallette, and they said the same thing, as did I.

This guy meant "See his he's tied up"

We have all determined he had his head up his ass.

I just wondered if that the new way "the kids are sayin' it nowadays"

There must be a lot of pregnancies where you are. Is there something in the water.

@chai2,
Has he stopped making one of those down with the hood pop songs that all the young people seem to be enjoying nowadays?

@ehBeth,
I've not heard of that practice, but I love the idea of a wake rather than a funeral when I pass away. I told my wife to throw a party for family and friends where people will enjoy food and drink to celebrate my life rather than to mourn it.

@ehBeth,
yeah ehbeth, me too, re the ???

To you, and izzy....

The reason I thought maybe it was some new way some people were saying it was because of the situation.

I've got a job fridays and saturdays answering the phone and stuff at this boat dealership that also sells high end ski equipment (both water and snow) wake boards, surf boards, tubes, etc. There're the boat salesmen, who are all in their 40's and 50's, and the retail guys, who are anywhere from 22 to maybe 28.

The retail guys are very knowledgeable about the products, as they work on commission. They are all very intelligent, have families, etc.. In addition, they all enjoy water sports, some of them compete, etc. I'll overhear conversations they have about the products and sports, and sometimes I don't get what they're talking about, as they use a lot of jargon specific to the lifestyle.
A customer had come in and started talking about a boat to one of the retail guys, so he was basically asking me to see if I could get an available boat salesman. But the way he put it was "Could you see if all the salesmen are wrapped up?" This guy's probably about 26.

When after an exchange back and forth I said "Oh...you mean tied up" he looked puzzled and said "yeah...whatever."

I just thought maybe that's how all the kids are doin' it nowadays.

@chai2,
"I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary ..."

I had my follow-up appointment at hospital with the plastic surgeon who did the skin cancer ops on my face. He says it looks good and there is no sign of a recurrence, so he's discharged me from hospital - hurrah, been backwards and forwards for the past 20 months, so it's good to feel that chapter of my life is finally over. A big relief.

Wally, re my choice of plate for his salad....

"Don't put my salad on a quiche plate. That's gay."

I'm considering using that for my signature line.
By God, I'm going to do it.
