I'm in a hotel in Cyprus, the owner's kids are playing chasings with their dog through the hotel. Nanna is rousing them but no one really minds the show of exuberance and joy. Sad smile for cleo, the young pup still on a rope until she is as 'mature' as Olmey who loves pats and surveying the seaview sitting on the sandstone walls looking dramatic.

Four years ago, I was interviewed and videotaped for a presentation Bellevue Hospital made to the the NY State Legislature. I was eventually sent a CD of the interview. A friend converted the CD to a videotape for me. By the time I got the tape, my VCR had broken. My cousin sent me a new one, but I didn't know how to hook it up. My social worker hooked it up yesterday. (Smile) After watching some Elvis (bigger smile), I found the tape and decided to watch me. I looked terrible. It was right after my brain surgery. My hair was hit and miss, and I had gained weight from the steroids I was taking. I had no recollection of what I said. Hearing what I said made me smile. I thought I was articulate (smile). And I was surprised at the feeling--the emotion--I projected when I spoke. (Bigger smile) I was stunned to hear that I have a New York accent. No, wait. Let's make that a Noo Yawk ACCENT. I knew I had a New York accent. I had no idea it was an ACCENT. This made me smile the biggest.

Ragman, Mazel tov on the last treatment. You should live and be well.

@Roberta,
Lovely story about finally seeing that interview.

Thanks, Roberta. Much appreciated. I read your other thread and follow your adventures and happenings in the medical and healthcare system. May we both be blessed with better health and happy days. Wait...may we ALL!

Smiling along with Rags and Boida.
(I need a smile after the Bruins went into the toilet last night.)

I remember when I found out I had a Boston accent.
I had no idea I was pronouncing "barber" as "bahbuh".

Wonderful news Roberta and Ragman. Mine's not in the same league. My recycling bin which is emptied fortnightly was just emptied. They missed it last time, and I didn't know if it was deliberate. That's one phone call I don't have to make.

In addition to the above just making me smile for it's own sake, it reminded me of something else.

A place downtown where I was temping had a huge multi-level parking garage. I always liked to park around the same area every day.

There was this one parking spot on the end of a row that someone had covered up the word "compact" in the "compact car" sign, and replaced it with "mischief"

I always tried to get the "MISCHIEF CAR" spot.

(It was usually taken Sad )

@vonny,
The Blue Angels will perform tomorrow at the Naval Academy. They are practicing today and some of them fly over my house as well as over the tree line in the distance. I took the dogs out and they saw a pair flying close together, then four in close formation. Surprisingly Sophie didn't seem to mind, Ruby however, made a mad dash back to the house after seeing the 4 jet formation. She came back out when I called her. Holy crap those planes move fast. Usually they just do one practice formation, but since it has been about 5 years since the last performance, I've been hearing them all afternoon. That always makes me smile.

@glitterbag,
Not a great lover of cakes - I'm a savoury person (!) but I appreciate the offer Laughing Ossobucco nailed it on the birthday thread she so kindly created for me - egg custard tarts - mmmmmmmmm - one of the few cake creations that I do rather like. She made my mouth water so much with her picture of egg custards that I actually bought some delicious fresh ones when I was out shopping - mmmmmm - ate two of them this afternoon, sinful but yummy!
