@OmSigDAVID,
I speak French, but not very well. You don't need it inside Disneyland itself, but it's not a good idea to try speaking anything else in Paris.

What happens if u DO ?

I 've heard it alleged that the French will not
let anyone get away with any imperfection of French speech;
that (allegedly) thay 'll act as if thay don't understand u,
regardless of whether thay actually do. I dunno. I 've never been there.

Is English the predominant language in French Disneyland ?

@OmSigDAVID,
The French gets a bad rap for their aloofness that is well earned, but not all French are uppity. I remember being helped by several Frenchmen when I looked lost in the middle of Paris on two different occasions. One was the direction to the du Nord train station, and the other provided me with directions on how to get to Montmartre Sacré Coeur - all in English! I remember one was a musician on a cruise ship.

If it's true of anywhere it's true of Paris. I've met pleasant Frenchmen in Calais, Cherbourg, most of Normany in fact, and in the Vendee region. I've never met any in Paris.

There's a mix of German, French, Spanish & Italian spoken in Disneyland, most workers are bilingual. It was a bit disconcerting walking around Alice's maze and hearing the Queen Of Hearts shout, 'Coupe la tete.'

Thanx for the warning.

@OmSigDAVID,
I'm catching the ferry to Cherbourg in Normandy. I'm sure Florida is not without its charms, but you can't buy cheap calvados there.

I saw that I've been quoted in a sig-line. Don't think that's ever happened before.

Also, a few days ago, panzade indicated that I'm educated and knowledgeable. That's the nicest thing anyone's ever said about me that was patently untrue.

@izzythepush,
I have never had a French person give me a hard time about my appalling language skills even in Paris.

I say bonne journée monsieur, deux bières s'il vous plaît

And they always reply in english. With a cheeky grin.

@izzythepush,
I'll agree with the Calvados.

I'm an early child at the original Disneyland. It probably reflects on me that I wasn't enchanted in my early teens, the summer it opened. Went later with a date in the rain, better.
My family used to work at Disney, the company, in the thirties, uncle the/a treasurer, so I'm mixed. But personally, I'm waaaah. I was an annoyed teen.

Decades later I was taught to revere the woman who did the early planting. I get that, all the design work. But I never - even before knowing about drought tolerant planting - liked any of it.

Somewhere in between all that, a friend had a friend who was promoting investment in theme parks. That probably did it.

@ossobuco,
One of the benefits of the EU is that there's no limit on what I can bring back, and I'm in a car. Outside the EU it's 1 litre of spirits and 200 cigarettes. I don't smoke but my mate does so I'll be bringing him some baccy back. And I'll be bringing back some cheese, best not tell Malvolio.

Unfortunately I've just heard that customs and immigration are on strike the day I come back.

I think that Disneyland Paris is the only Disneyland where they serve alcohol.

@izzythepush,
You're probably right - ours here (California) doesn't!
Then again, I haven't been there in at least 10 years, despite being only an hour away. I dislike these amusement parks with a passion and always found someone else to go with my kid, except for a few times.
Take your piggy bank with you, I hear Disney Paris is very, very expensive.

@CalamityJane,
It's not too bad right now, strong pound and weak euro. In any event the Calvados will be a lot cheaper.
