@blueveinedthrobber,
I wonder what the Canajuns are scarfing today. Ill bet beer is involved though.
BVT--did you agree with me on the Baby Back ribs not being a rib of choice to the pro swinaholic
@farmerman,
Methinks not so subtle swipes are being applied to certain religious dietary restrictions.
they are a little short on fat...which flavors them.... but ribs are like pizza, cocaine and pussy.... even the worst are wonderful
No Spendius ....THIS is food porn.

grilled Italian salami and sorta poached eggs with cheese on bread
then I went into the offleash area with the dogs. Miss Cleo had a lovely dip and swish in the lake while Mr. Bailey wandered off to meet and greet the local hounds.
it was a morning for smiling

I parked my car on the seafront at Largs yesterday .........
You mean it wasn't pissing down and the wind bowling you over?!
Although I got an urgent email from my friends in Largs requesting immediate supply of a particular brand of insect repellant. Apparently their plumber, who spent some time in Oz, reckoned this was the best he had come by for midges.
So - because I'm such an obedient soul, I raced out and purchased 3 (yes - the number was specified also) roll-ons of this particular brand - Cost $24. Postage to Scotland $27.
Better be bloody good!
My parents were married on July 3, 1944. I always associate their anniversary with fireworks. Woke up and thought about that. It made me smile.
Smiled quite a lot when I discovered a phto of my old workplace (from ages ago) on the web
@blueveinedthrobber,
I feel I ought to apologise the viewers here as it seems I inspired bvt to reach a little further than usual into the lower-middle-class sink of depravity.
@spendius,
If you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen. And I'm not lower or lower middle class.... I'm not a professional pub stool warmer either. Note the disclaimer.... if you decided to look anyway that's a YP, not an MP.
@blueveinedthrobber,
worked like dogs today. We were worming the thundering herd and me and Stasha would round up the sheep and then Id fill all the needles and drenched with worm meds and then ID send em back out. Really hot so we did it in hour chunks followed by runs back into the house and cool off in the AC.
Smiling now cause I took a shower and were gonna eat corn on the cob and maybe visit some neighbors if we dont crap out.
@margo,
That's been my experience too! The postage ends up costing more than the products we send. OUCH!
it was fourth of july yesterday, and we had a BIG party! yay!
@farmerman,
dude, you keep sheep? Seriously? How many head?
I have to set up production for an outdoor event this afternoon and the humidity is about 10000%. Then I have to go round and round with the promoter about how I'm NOT going to put up my lighting in the rain, he'll insist we put up the sound, then it'll start raining and we'll have to rush it all inside and reset up there. Annoying, but sounds like a day at the beach compared to worming livestock I gotta admit.
@blueveinedthrobber,
Sheesh!! You guys have it tough. And in that heat too.
I was on the sun lounger most of the day reading Henry Miller's Hamlet Letters. When it started raining I shifted into the greenhouse where I have an armchair.
This summer, the farmers' market here in Metuchen has an Amish stand. Apart from very delicious pies, their main merchandise is a series of jellies and marmalades. Three weeks ago, I remarked to an elderly Amish farmer/merchant that the brand name on those jellies is almost identical to my mother's maiden name. He asked: "Oh really? Where is she from?" I replied: "Oh, she still lives in Germany." That shut him down and he just said, "Okay, you have a nice day now."
Since then, this old man's eyes light up every time he sees me, and as I watch his facial expressions, I can see his shyness about talking with non-Amish people fight with his curiosity about my mother and Germany. Today, we exchanged maybe five sentences of small talk in German. I'm curious where this goes.
@Thomas,
You should go down to Lancaster, PA where the Amish have their own farmers' markets. I used to buy tons of marmalade and bread there....oh and the home sewn quilts - to die for!
@Thomas,
Anybody who is "shut down" by being told that one's Mum lived in Germany is not really worth bothering with.
Having a brand name of a jelly being "almost identical" to one's Mom's maiden name must be the fate of millions of sons. One might end up looking around various markets for brand names which are almost identical to one's Mom's maiden name in order to introduce oneself to the unfortunate stallholder who made such an innocent mistake in his display.
@Thomas,
Interesting. I'll be curious too.
So I just retrieved the scalloped potatoes, the baking type, from the oven. Left the skin on, well cleaned with my handy steel coiled scrubber thing. Thin sliced, very boring for so many potatoes. Tossed on salt and pepper with layers, milk, cream, butter, cheese, chile pepper, basil. Failed to add roasted garlic.
Just out of the oven food can be happiness.
