@BillW,
Yeah - well the prisons run despite snow and ice. It's always funnier and more interesting there anyway.

Another big laugh - today I asked this guy if he liked dogs, because I had a really good reading/writing/speaking/listening activity about dogs and he said, 'No - I'm a cat person,' and then he told me about his cat who had to be put down while he was in prison and that this just tore him up (he's a lovely person who just got caught up in something - 60- first time in prison) and so I asked, 'Was she old?' and he said, 'Yeah, and her back legs were giving out on her,' and I responded, 'Yeah - my hind legs are giving out,'....I MEANT to say that my DOG's hind legs were giving out...we laughed and laughed at that image.

I love my job. It makes me smile and gives me HUGE laughs every single day.

Roger Ebert's prosthetic chin -

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/01/21/roger-eberts-new-chin-pho_n_812074.html

To those not in the US, Roger Ebert is a long time film critic, and a straightforward man who has continued to talk with the public after going through a horrendous medical problem and losing his jaw - or part of it - in the survival fight.

In a bid to save paper and keep the copier from constantly breaking down, we got a copier orderly whose sole job it is to make copies.
He's a very nice young man named Streaky (like the bacon) John - I have no idea why - but he's not very technically savvy or practical.
I was trying to explain to him that if he made a copy of the page of the book I needed regular size and then enlarged THAT - it'd be easier than trying to figure out exactly how to lay the book on the screen to get the appropriate section to enlarge.
He just didn't get it...we wasted about sixteen pieces of paper and finally he just said, 'Rebecca - can't you use one of these that I've made?' to which I answered, 'No John - really - I would if I could - but that's the whole point. I need it BIGGER!'

Andy - my favorite guard- happened to be walking by just as I uttered that sentence and he said to John, 'Don't take it personally mate - women are always saying that to me too.'

I started laughing and Andy whispers to me, 'Not really - I was just trying to make the poor bloke feel better- no one's ever said that to me.'
Then I blushed- but kept laughing.

@msolga,
I got a rick or so of free wood. (mulberry)

and a woodsplitter to use that runs on gas, instead of me swinging a maul...

@Mapleleaf,
Apparently, I have much to relearn in order to use A2k.

However, I do understand Rockhead's relief concerning: "instead of me swinging a maul.."

@hingehead,
Yeah - they didn't even try to break her fall - that would have been the instinctive reaction of almost any parent I've ever known. And they they didn't even stop filming to help her sit back up.
Is that what parents do now - film their kid in uncomfortable and potentially painful situations to post on youtube?

I've been smiling all day thinking about the 528 newborn fawns that I'm going to have the opportunity to see later this week on the farm/village/estate where a person I know acts as the deer breeder/keeper.

Who is Simon Cowell - did we have a president whose name sounds like Simon Cowell?
I've listened to it three times and I can't figure out what either he or she is saying.
I'm gonna have to look at a list of the presidents...

just saw the most amazing thing. I don't think I've ever seen this.

The sky is bright blue with white puffy clouds.
The way the sun was shining on some of the clouds was reflecting on others.

The light was manifesting itself as prisms, not in the shape of a rainbow, but as big blobs of color.

violet blob next to a blue blob, an orange blob above them, etc.
