I am definately smiling now! I've been to see my potential new boss and confessed about the pot. And he was cool! He's even trying to come up with some scheme whereby I can keep the redundancy pay, work temporary in another field for 2 months (temp=no test) then start new job and pass test! You beauty, as our antipodean friends might say!!

Well, phonetic is the thing. I was going by meaning, too, totally stumped... she was pointing at the top of a high cabinet, that had a lamp on it, I was thinking something about the lamp being hot, just totally confused. Then she gave me one of her eyeroll, "duh" looks (yes, she has those mastered already), and said (she had been signing only, no voice), "PACIFIER!!"

Very Happy

(She has a glow-in-the-dark one that she likes to play with, though she's never really used 'em.)

smokingunne, Rosie dates from WWII -- a recruitment poster to get women to do some of the jobs that men had left. ("We can do it!")

(When she later voiced + signed it, she did the whole thing -- "pass... a... fire." [The "a" is implied in that ASL sentence... she's doing pretty well with grammar.])

I'll tell you what made me smile yesterday. My daughter played on a travelling, tournament soccer team last spring. They never won a game, managing only to tie a couple towards the end of a tough season.

She has moved onto a new team, along with about half the girls from the old team. Yesterday, they got their first win, they are 1-1. After the game she walked up to me with sort of a smug look and suddenly, this HUGE grin appears on her face. That made me smile!

Something definately not making me smile today is that I woke up this morning with my sciatica playing up big time - limp, pain - and managed to pull a muscle in my shoulder getting out of bed. My whole left side from shoulder to knee-cap is aching. Still happy about new job though. I've also got a date lined up for Thursday, which always put's a smile on a man's face!

Cheers SG. It's a shame a massage is unlikely for a first date! (At least all the ones I've ever been on!)

Just need some painkillers and a lie-down on a hard surface for a couple of hours and it'll be much better. Shame I'm at work for another 7 hours but hey, it's been like this for years so you kinda get used to it after a while.
