A coworker had to spend some time in the workplace on her day off. She brought her five-year-old in after school. I made the mistake of beginning a conversation with the little one in Spanish. (She's bilingual, but her Spanish is better than her English...and my Spanish is dreadful.) After that, she wouldn't speak to me in English at all, so she'd speak to me in Spanish and I'd answer her in "Spanglish." She was quite amused...So was I.

Woke up, rolled over and saw a fawn in the yard. Discovered another fawn and about 4 or 5 adults. Couldn't get off for work for another 20-30 minutes Smile

What made me laugh today? The toads who have taken up residence in my hiking shoes (which live on a rack in the garage):

Went to a concert last night, outdoors, beautiful weather..Lovely music, Carrie Newcomer, she was fun. Concert at the botanical gardens. The cicadas were so loud, she had to sing over them! People brought their picnics and wine and candles. Went with a new friend. On top of that, it was my birthday. So, have spent today, thinking about yesterday and what a great night I had.

Wow! Nature's worth a lot of smiles lately.

Tartarin, is that the actual picture? Holy moly! At least you didn't, like, slip your bare foot in. (I hope... Shocked)

Nature's making me smile today too... stupendously gorgeous day. The first early fall as opposed to late summer day -- a hint of a chill, everything a bit more crisp, the grass greener, the sky bluer, the clouds whiter. The kind of day that makes me vow to never ever move out of the Midwest (maybe the Northeast would be OK...)

Soz--I can vouch for the Northeast. The weather here has been gorgeous. We're just starting to feel that cool fall air in the evenings, but the daylight hours are still warm enough to go without a jacket. It's as though Mother Nature uses Labor Day as an excuse to cool us off a bit. Pretty soon the oaks and maples will be full of color.

What made me smile? A whole mess of A2K'ers reminding me to check out the weather. Thanks gang. Very Happy

George(my steed) decided to snatch up half of my pita before my very eyes. He then proceeded to pick up his brushes and literally toss them away down the aisle while he turned to bat his long eyelashes at me.

I swear he was looking at me grinning ear to ear he was so proud of himself.

Laughing

It sure is Misti. It's an old car (1987) and even though I had a new motor put in it 3 years ago and the interior is beautiful, the body rust made it look like a piece of junk, but now my car looks brand new, YIPPI!!!!!!

Speaking of cars, someone at work mentioned the high cost of gasoline, $1.62, and I couldn't help but remind them of the cost of petrol in Ireland and England, ever since I can remember! Right now, it's about $6.00 or $7.00 per gallon! They responded that the europeans are not as dependent on gasoline as the Americans are? To which I responded perhaps the Americans wouldn't be so dependent if we had public transportation as they do in Ireland and England.

What do you think?

Listening to Cleo snore as she sleeps on her blankie beside me on the floor. She is a nice little dog. Bailey is asleep on the back of the sofa. I put a blanket across it again, so he won't slide down between the sofa and the pillows.

there was a neighbourhood festival/celebration/party kinda thing going on today. key word: water. so we came with our bakfiets (transport bike - moving stasia out) through the narrow street, & came upon this sight: they'd put a water sprinkler over the road, stereo playing, "i'm singing in the rain", and you could 'borrow' an umbrella to run under through (the cute, small, see-through, bell-shaped kind). umbrellas were being painted with cute motifs down the road. little girl kept running underneath the line of "rain" with her li'l umbrella. it was the cutest thing.

I looked at the whiteboard (well, its actually a greyboard, its purrtee ... there's a story behind it), and I saw one of the notes that we carefully preserved, tho its gotten pretty hard to read by now:

3. Do pretty good like today again
4. Do some more editing

$60.00? To fill your tank? OMG, that's outrageous! I'd never go anywhere if that's what it cost here!

Maybe you have an extra large tank?
