Damn. I will be trying to think of the name of the song the ice cream truck in my neighborhood plays. I called my shop and my resident movie expert identified it immediately as The Entertainer from The Sting.

Whatever it is that the ice cream truck in my neighborhood plays, I hate hate, hate it. It is the most godawful repetitious annoying noise that could assault one's ears on an otherwise pleasant weekend.

Well, actually, it's not all that pleasant this particular wekend. It's Gay Pride time in this neck of the woods, and I live literally within a stone's throw of both the parade route and the square where all block-party activity is going on. There will be raucous noise until the wee hours tonight. I'll prob'ly get precious little sleep.

So, ehst maks me smile? Listening to Garrison Keeler's "Prairie Home Companion" on NPR.

Saturday night - outside some girls are crossing the square loudly shouting out lyrics: "We are your friends / You'll never be / alone again / Well c'mon!"

This afternoon some Roma musicians must have been sitting in the park, cause we heard guitar and singing, beautiful.

Good point, Mac! Actually, realjohnnyboy, the one back in Davis CA played Joplin's entertainer too. MerryAndrew you're an insufferable curmudgeon who deserves to spend the rest of his life ice-cream-less. Thanks, nimh -- and your Roma story sounds very romantic.

Of all the people I know, Merry Andrew is the one person who deserves ice cream to his heart's content. I'll even share some of mine.

I'm touched by that endorsement, CI, really touched. Thankee. Fact is, I love ice cream. What I hate is repetitious noise that stays in your head hours after it has actually stopped playing. The most insipid piece of pop music, for my money, was Lara's Theme from the Doctor Zhivago movie. It sounds just like a street organ-grinder urging his monkey to go around with the tin cup.

Hey! I think I'll go down the street to the local Tedeschi's food mart right this minute and get me some Hagen Daazs ice cream. That'll make me smile.

lol. Lara's theme. I've got two music boxes with that song on it. Fell asleep to that so many times it actually is pleasant to me.
Don't tell me tho that they play that out of an ice cream truck. Shocked

Jillian has her own little white bucket she used to plant some seeds and that she waters every now and then. She gets these mini-mum looking flowers out of it. They can with stand almost anything she can give them. Lack of water, toys inserted into the dirt, pulling them out to see the roots.. you name it. They are doing well.

She cut one today to give to Ian for fathers day .

She has quite the greenish thumb for being 4
