I had to smile when I thought of eoe having a tough day.

I'm not sure why, because I really like that woman, but there I was.... grinning like the cheshire cat.

I'm smiling at Eva catching Gus' typo, and Gus caring enough to go back and fix it.

This might be kitsch...i spent the day with my husband today (we have been married 19years tomorrow) without any of the kids around and we are spending the weekend away (after the youngest has her school concert tomorrow night) I love the kids dearly, but gosh it was nice to not have them around and spend time with hubby. AND THAT PUT A REEEAAALLLYYY BIG SMILE on my face.

hello little-one, Smile

That sounds nice, and although I haven't got children myself, I can perfectly understand the way you feel. Smile How about the grandparents? Is it not possible to arrange the childmindig sometimes anyway? Smile

Congratulation to you two! SmileSmileSmile

Thanks ShadowBoxer,

My kids are 10, 15 and 18 and child minding is not the problem...except for the youngest and she stays with relatives or friends...the problem is if hubby and i organise a quiet night at home, we seem to be inundated with heaps of teenagers...which also is not a problem as I would prefer them to be here than wandering the streets. Just finding that bit of time when all three of them are doing something elsewhere is really special.

What Goes Around Comes Around...
There is a popular restaurant about a half a block from my store. There is a shortage of parking in the area but I happen to have a 30-space lot next to my shop, Tony, the owner of the restaurant, asked if his customers could use my lot at night, after we are closed. No problem.
We never mentioned any kind of rent. It wasn't costing me anything.
Tony brings by a couple of gift certificates every month, which I pass on to my employees.
This morning, Bruce, the boyfriend of one my employees, called to thank me for the free dinner for him and his lady and for another employee and his lady last night. The bill would have been around $100. None of them drinks so there was no wine involved.
They left the waiter, he said, a $40 tip, figuring that paying $10 each for a $25 meal was fair.
Tony came in about 5 minutes after I talked to Bruce. He is a New York Italian and he wrapped his arm around my neck. "Your friends, the ones with the green and pink hair; nice kids. And nice what they did."
He handed me an envelope which I opened later. Instead of two gift certificates, there were four.

what a nice page of smile-making stories

I put the lil dogs on leashes when I got home - took them in the car with me to pick up some pet food - then thought, we're close to the beach, let's see if I can get a parking spot.

Got to the Balmy Beach Club - got a parking spot - grabbed some treats and supplies and headed for the beach. Cleo headed straight into the water. Since we weren't in the off-leash area, and I didn't have the long walking leashes, I had to go in with her.

Kicked off my shoes and ran into the little waves.

My dress pants are soaked and sandy to the knees.

It was a great hour at the end of the work day.

Very Happy
