OOO, flowers and kitties! Thanks, Soz and Misti!
nimh, we've known each other for a long time, but it seems like a short time. I joined that other site in February 2001. Where does the time go?
Happy Happy bday Swipy !!!
Hey did anyone know that it is a2k's bday ?? I see a HBDTY at the bottom of my browser window !
Happy birthday week, Swimpy!
And happy birthday, a2k!
And happy birthday week to Rick, too!
I've been having a rough week, myself, and thought I'd swing by looking for a smile...

Me too. I was already wondering what it was.
great day for a2k, the best forum! :-)
A belated happy birthday to A2K!
One of my employees came in and, in the early morning banter before we got to work, slid a CD across the counter. "Maybe, you'd like to listen to it." he said somewhat shyly.
One of the other guys who works for me here is in a band and they are getting quite big in their genre, completing a European tour and a US tour lasting a couple of months. Goth. I've never seen a live performance; I can't stay up that late but I understand it is pretty raucous.
So I put the new CD in from this acappella group at UVA, devoutly Christian, and its ok, I guess. But then, on about the sixth song, there is a ballad sung in a beautiful tenor voice and my employee says to me "That's me." And it was.
Today I went for a drive in the country. It was a pleasant little trip, the sun was just sliding into the western sky, tingeing the world with a golden hue...
But something was wrong.
I couldn't quite place my finger on it for a while. I sat there in the car and pondered what it was in this countryside vista that was out of place. Then it came to me.
Green.
There was green everywhere, on all sides. No dead brown or sun-burnt shades of yellow, just green as far as the eye could see. Rolling hills of vibrant green. Endless plains of vivid green. Valleys and forests of succulent green.
The last time I left the city everything in sight was dead from drought. Today, I had to smile.
I had a same "encounter" with nature too fortune. Around noon, I decided to get out with the dog. There is a forest just twenty metres from where I live, and I always go there. Now, it had rained this morning (it's currently around 19:55 here), and you know that smell of the trees after it has rained? That smell was everywhere. I like that smell. It remembers me of the spring, my favorite season. Birds were singing everywhere. Light was shining down through the leaves. Than I met a female friend of me, who lives nearby. It was so peaceful, so nice. I just LOVE the nature!
I agree, this oder is excellent. Fresh air for the lung! I smell it yesterday.. and now, indeed.
hugs for marycat ... and dont hesitate coming in to look for more smiles, its always nice to see a marycat come by ... <smiles>
fortune, nicely written! thanks for neatly transmitting your smile to us.
rjb, did your goth employee happen upon utrecht on his european tour? formerly squatted place called acu is just across from here, they have gothic night every two weeks or month or something. its always cool to see the beautifully dressed up brothers and sisters of the night find their way here from bigger and smaller towns around the province - amazing how that scene, however small, has kept itself regenerated generation after generation. when i was in high school, goth bands would play in t paard or tivoli, for hundreds of people - now, its the odd night in acu, for perhaps 40, 70 or (in ekko, down the other side from here) 100. but they look no less meticulous/extravagant for it ... plus, the most beautiful women in the world, heh. my sister had this friend whom i madly fancied when i was 15 (and she, err, 25 or something i guess ... reliable rumor has it she had an affair with the singer of the sisters of mercy - that's like, the pantheon of goth ;-)
my sister had big news last night that would definitely have made me smile if i'd been capable of smiling ...
what, the goth thing or my smile?
The smile or lack thereof.
