Several towns, cities and counties around the nation are caving to President Trump’s threat to pull funding, and abandoning their “sanctuary” pledges to shield illegal immigrants from federal authorities.

Dayton, Ohio, dropped a policy that restricted the city’s cooperation with immigration officials pursuing illegal immigrants arrested for misdemeanors or felony property crimes, according to the Dayton Daily News. Police Chief Richard Biehl said federal authorities will no longer be impeded by the city when pursuing illegal immigrants being held by his department.

Other communities that have dropped policies of shielding illegal immigrant suspects from Immigration and Customs Enforcement include Miami-Dade and Dayton, are Saratoga, N.Y., Finney County, Kan., and Bedford, Penn., according to The Center for Immigration Studies, which keeps a list of sanctuary communities.

“We are reviewing policy changes at a multitude of other jurisdictions as well,” said Marguerite Telford, CIS’s director of communications, who said the organization is “being inundated” by officials on its sanctuary map who want to be taken off.

. . . . Ira Mehlman, spokesman for the Federation for American Immigration Reform, or FAIR, predicted many more communities will be dropping or dramatically modifying their sanctuary stances.

“We’re going to see more of this,” Mehlman told Fox News. “Faced with the possibility of losing federal dollars, they’ll choose to keep funding public services rather than protecting illegal aliens.”

@gungasnake,
And lots of cities are standing up to Trump. I am proud of Michael Flynn, the mayor of Boston, vowing to offer up city hall to hide undocumented immigrants from ICE.

Trump is going to go after Boston and New York... the two cities who are at the front line of fighting terrorism? Both of these cities (and many more) are telling Trump to f*** himself.

Trump should know by now... you don't f*** with Boston.

@layman,
Trump is not welcome in Boston. He is hated. He is viewed as an authoritarian bully. We will stand up to Trump. And given his record in court... we aren't really that worried about it.

You are also being a wee bit hypocritical, aren't you Layman? Weren't you guys supposed to be against the Federal government bullying local communities?

We in Boston stood up to the terrorists... and we will stand up to Trump.

@maxdancona,
Thats a lot of the problem with donut eaters, their life is vested in the past.
The GOP of today has inherited and absorbed the racism of the early DEM party ever since the Civil Rights act showed the Dixiecrats the door.

Anyway, Gorge Wallace openly apologized , the press never gave him a break when he did.

@farmerman,
Anyway, if the moron in chief does pull funding that could make a very interesting "Class Action 1st Amendment case".

Yeah, and Tom Brady says he likes Trump and suddenly they will be throwing Trump a parade. Brady is the stud right now.

Gunga is posting a FOX NEWS article. How much credibility do you give
Fox? Right! End of discussion!

Oh and for the record: the only city that caved is Miami and we all know that the entire f....ing state of Florida is in Trump hands. So I would not even call it "sanctuary"

@McGentrix,
Yes, we love Tom Brady. But even Tom Brady backed off when Boston fans questioned whether he supported Trump or not.

Tom Brady on Trump wrote:
I don’t understand that. … I don’t want to get into it, but just – if you know someone, it doesn’t mean that you agree with everything that they say or do. Right?

Lots of us went to both the Anti-Trump protest and the Superbowl victory parade.

Democratic presidents sent the Feds after them. As a result, the Republicans became the party for "states' rights".

Heh, ya think? The topic here is "sanctuary states (and cities)" that commit themselves and their citizenry, to the rejection, defiance, obstruction, and evasion of federal law, enacted by congress. Are a bunch of republicans behind all of this, ya figure?

alifornia Asks For Trump’s Help After Repeated Attacks

After repeatedly attacking and criticizing President Trump, the State of California is officially asking for his help as they have run short of resources in wake of severe weather that has caused significant damage in the state.

From Fox40:

Gov. Jerry Brown has asked President Trump to declare a major disaster for California because of damage from January storms.

The letter sent Friday says the relentless series of storms caused flooding, mudslides, evacuations, erosion, power outages and at least eight deaths. Northern California was hardest hit.

Brown says the storm system was so severe and widespread that state and local governments need federal assistance to continue dealing with the problems it created.

Governor Brown has made his disgust for President Trump known in the past as Breitbart reports that back in March of 2016 Governor Brown said “If Trump were ever elected, we’d have to build a wall around California to defend ourselves from the rest of this country,” which Brown later said was “a joke.”......

Nothing wrong with Fox News. Liberals just don't like news outlets that report facts that contradict Leftist ideology.

@oralloy,
Of course not. We pay our taxes (more than our share, but who is counting). Trump is a president, not a dictator (as of now). He doesn't get to use federal funding that way. These funds belong to us Americans, not to Trump.

Gunga's idea that Trump can use disaster relief funds to force states into submission is ridiculous.

@gungasnake,
Stupid use of humor towrd a president who clerly shows that he has a huge ego and a very thin skin. However, I hope the president doesnt play politics with something like disaster declarations.
Tht'd be really childish.

The federal government often withholds funding from states that do not do what the feds want.

I'll admit that conservative judges have been pushing back against this. But they haven't abolished it completely.
