Where did he say anything about the country becoming increasingly authoritarian? The problem isn't government censorship. Did you hear what he said about the "sneaker deal"? Corporations don't want to get sued. Advertisers don't want their products associated with controversy.

But you might want to think about the difference between performing a controversial act in a small club somewhere for a few dozen people and performing the same act on a corporate-sponsored stage for a nationwide audience. Doesn't the second option resemble the "sneaker deal"? If you want to have unbridled freedom to say what you wish you're better off saying it in conditions where corporate profits aren't part of the equation. I agree that practicing "free speech" is challenging in today's environment – but not because of fascism or authoritarianism. Think capitalism.

Real comedy takes you by surprise, the punchline jumps out at you, which is why it makes you laugh.

I believe AIPAC —and their power in our Congress— and AIPAC + Congress’ combined lobbying and dramatic recent censures related to Israel (and Jewishness) is a primary driving source behind what I’m calling authoritarianism (although the public speech topics under increasing control are varied).

I believe AIPAC and Congress use PR bots online to press censorship that is likely causing corporations to act against people like Kanye. (Even though I agree Kanye desperately required some pushback.)
