Hi guys! I am so glad to see you are all doing fine. I worried all night - and couldn't check since we were at birthday party. Now I will go to the restaurant and tell Stefan! :-)

I don't think anyone ever called Prince Charles "bonnie".

Well, the folks in my area can relax now.........for the moment. Apparently there is a tropical depression in the Windward Islands that is headed for the gulf! Confused

Anyhow, the people in Punta Gorda, which is about 1 1/4 hours south of me, got slammed......hard. One gust was reported to be 180 mph. Sixty body bags were ordered. Apparently, in that area, there was a HUGE amount of devastation.

I was NOT around when this was #1! Laughing

Quote:
A Bird in a Gilded Cage
(Arthur J. Lamb and Harry Von Tilzer)

The ballroom was filled with fashion's throng,
It shone with a thousand lights;
And there was a woman who passed along,
The fairest of all the sights.
A girl to her lover then softly sighed,
"There's riches at her command."
"But she married for wealth, not for love," he cried!
"Though she lives in a mansion grand."

cho: "She's only a bird in a gilded cage,
A beautiful sight to see.
You may think she's happy and free from care,
She's not, though she seems to be.
'Tis sad when you think of her wasted life
For youth cannot mate with age;
And her beauty was sold for an old man's gold,
She's a bird in a gilded cage."

I stood in a churchyard just at eve,
When sunset adorned the west;
And looked at the people who'd come to grieve
For loved ones now laid at rcst.
A tall marble monument marked the grave
Of one who'd been fashion's queen;
And I thought, "She is happier here at rest,
Than to have people say when seen: "

I don't think any of us were around in 1900, Phoenix - not even me. (lol)
However, I do have a Beatrice Kay record of Bird in a Gilded Cage. But, anyway, that's not why I'm here.

I dropped in to tell all you Florida folks here, and on the other threads I've been following ,how relieved and happy I am to see your posts and know that you're safe and well and the damage is minor. Very Happy

Anyone have a farmers almanac? Talking to Mom last night, she said the almanac preidicted the hurricanes and is calling for Freeze in MO in September, hard freezes into Florida over the winter. I would think that would mean the hurricane season would be cut short.

Phew! Couldn't wait to hear all were okay in Florida. Don't ya know there were some major prayers and good thoughts zingin' from A2K to all of you! Musta worked!
