DNC vs Sanders. Is the DNC right to block Sander's access to DNC voter data?

@ehBeth,
Ok here I go again, there will not be any insurance claims over this. But this time I'm only wagering $100.

@Thomas,
But that mistake was made by someone else. Her material was view-able by Sanders workers through no fault of theirs.

Hence mitigated "crime."

It was laying there amid their property.

I actually think I might cite the well-known section of United States law that begins with the Finders Keepers clause...

@Robert Gentel,
I suspect they've already been presented. I may know on Monday.

Suppose people enter your house without your permission.

No it wasn't, it was where it always was and the firewall was down. Bernie's staffers did not casually find this in their own data, they queried Hillary's data when they found out they could.

Nope. The part of the space that contained Clinton's data wasn't shared. It was supposed to be proprietary. Independently, I was responding to ehBeth's point that breaking and entering makes no ethical difference.

the thing is, there was no b/e so it doesn't even come into play

Call my scenario what you want, but my question remains: Are you okay with it? No ethical breach?

@ehBeth,
Tell me where to send the $100 if that happens. I seriously doubt it will happen but don't know insurance the way that you do and would be happy to be wrong and learn something.

@Thomas,
I don't think b/e adds anything to the ethical breach that theft is.

In this case, there was no b/e, so theft is all there is.

It's creepy to have people go through your stuff but I'm not even sure if they can be charged with that - I've never seen it on a file.

If I can find a way to tell you without breaching anything I've signed, I will.

@ehBeth,
I'd find it hard to believe that an insurance claim about this would have that much secrecy but I'm not that familiar with insurance practices (other than knowing that I've heard of plenty of notable insurance claims in the past so not all are so secret).

@Robert Gentel,
my $ would be on at least one claim against the software vendor, though there would probably be multiple claims - one for each breach of the firewall by each group who thinks they were damaged by the breach/es

if there is evidence of Sanders' team advising the vendor of previous breach, the claims by the DNC could be big- esp with the changes in data ownership already happening on the Republican side

What do you think was insured here?

@Robert Gentel,
I don't think people realize just how many insurance claims are out there - and for what weird and wonderful things. In our tiny office, there are 20 - 30 thousand open claims at any given time.

The majority of the kind I deal with are never public. The incidents that lead to the claims are public, but the claims aren't. If they go through the courts, they sometimes become public, otherwise all claim documents promise privacy by the insurer.

@ehBeth,
I figured that there are all sorts of claims about all sorts of things (many probably not legitimate) but still wonder what you think is being insured here and by/to whom (out of curiosity, not contradiction).

FYI Breaking news: Bernie gets access to his data in the morning.

He really raked it in tonight. He should be accused of stealing data more often.

@Robert Gentel,
Everything in the contracts between the vendor and the DNC would be insured. Everything in the contract between the DNC and the candidates would be insured.

Insurers generally require upfront vetting of all contracts in relationships like these. I spend about as much time reading contracts my e'er is considering offering as I spend working on claim resolution.

All the services (speed/accuracy/privacy etc) - everything is insured.
