@Olivier5,
Seems like almost a month. Maybe less.
@oralloy,
He must be quite pissed... I wonder if he will come back. He's not without pride.
Not that i miss him, mind you, but i enjoyed teasing him.
@Olivier5,
I expect him back, but you never know. Sometimes we agreed; sometimes not at all. Anyhow, he wasn't prone to carrying squabbles from one thread to another, and he did drag in some interesting topics.
@roger,
Maybe it's for the best. He did rub many people the wrong way.
@roger,
I might have agreed with him on a couple of occasions but the guy is full of bile and it clutters his judgement. You can't think straight if you hate 90% of the world population.

He maybe back at this moment, posting under a different name.
Who knows?
@Miller,

Given his large "personality" I question if he could post under another name without everyone knowing he was doing so.
At best he might be reading the postings under another name and if he is he already know what my opinions of Robert is for going after him but leaving far far worst offenders alone.

Brandon! Haven't seen a post from you in yonks.
How do you tell if someone is 'popular'?
Thanks for the greeting, but I am not going to define dictionary words for you. In addition to popular, though, I meant to imply liberal. I am very skeptical that a longstanding liberal poster who is popular with many people will be banned for insulting a polite conservative. I think it more likely to be the other way around.
@Brandon9000,
Conservatives on this forum have spewed this paranoia for over a decade without a shred of evidence. It's an annoying persecution complex that is wholly unwarranted (I suspect more liberals have been banned in the history of this site than conservatives, but don't know about the last few years). When I have asked some conservatives who complain about the moderation being unfair to conservatives to help moderate they decline, sounds like they just want to whine about perceived persecution and they don't actually care if it's true or not or actually help with the difficult and complicated task of managing a community.
I give this kind of feckless opinion all the consideration it is due.
@Robert Gentel,
Well. I seem to remember an experiment wherein you attempted to espouse a few conservative policies. You were sharply nibbled from all sides and, poor memory acknowledged, I daresay you admitted the conservatives on site had a legit complaint about unfair mob treatment by the majority.
@Lash,
The man allowed and to a degree promote ad hominem attacks on certain people but it is not as simple as a conservative/liberal issue, in my opinion.
@Lash,
Treatment from the members is not the same thing as treatment from the site. This site has never unfairly discriminated against conservatives, and they project their treatment by members onto the community management.
I have been mobbed here for expressing unpopular opinions, and it was not necessarily always a matter of liberal and conservative. People who think in those terms tend to ascribe motives on that basis. I've had conservatives here who have followed me around, literally for years, making personal attacks and arguing with almost everything i've posted. This was often on a political basis, but not always. There were two members who followed me around and attacked me while playing christian white knights defending the poor harrassed christians (in their estimation)--until an incident in which one christian admitted to lying and other "sins."
However, there is no doubt that liberals will mob people who express unpopular opinions. When Mr. Obama was elected, Mr. Bush and his wife were very cordial to him and his wife, welcoming and offering all the help they could to get them settled in at the White House. I contrasted this with Eisenhower and Mamie, who left the White House like thieves in the night, and who blatantly snubbed the Kennedys. I was then inundated with criticism, some of it quite nasty. Apparently, these people didn't realize just how important Bush's behavior was. In a system which had no real party leaders as is the case with Westminster systems (England, Canada, Australia, etc.), the president serves that function de facto. Bush's behavior did a lot to quell the "socialist" hysteria which was running like wildfire in conservative circles. It was not just good manners and civility, it was an important political statement by Bush, made without overtly criticizing the conservative lunatic fringe.
I've largely dropped out of political discussions. The number of loons from right and left are about equal, and Americans continue to fail to understand or to acknowledge that with the Democrats and Republicans it's a case of conservative and more conservative.
I don't for a moment believe that anyone here gets banned on a basis of political persuasion.
@Setanta,

If there's anyone who deserves to be criticized and ostracized for their political views, then it's a damn commie, I figure.
@layman,
To quote the noble patriot, General Jack D. Ripper:
Quote:I will not sit back and allow communist infiltration, communists indoctrination, communist subversion, and the international communist conspiracy to sap my precious bodily fluids!
@Robert Gentel,
I never thought you or your mgmt would purposely discriminate against a member on the basis of his political persuasion. I thought complaints by the strength of agreeing people who share the majority sensibility, anchored by political/social agreement, would sway you.
@Lash,
Complaints are not really a factor, decisions have never been made on the basis of volume of complaints (actually when people flood the mods with complaints to try to influence them they are just blocked from the help desk or the entire site).

Good policy. Nuthin worse than a damn dime-dropper, eh? Well, mebbe a commie, but, still.....
