@maxdancona,

Do you realize that France, the victim of the attack, just reaffirmed its commitment to take in 30,000 Syrian refugees?

Do you realize that I think that the Europeans in general are very stupid on this, and that the French in particular are a broken down society that is bankrupt, going no where, and that often does things poorly? They are more often then not an example of what not to do.

BTW are you noticing multiple reports that global security experts are now sure that the French botched the job of watching known terrorists, which allowed the Paris attack to happen? By all accounts they ( french security) are frazzled and not getting the job done, this in Spite of Hollande giving them a fist full more money this spring,. But these brilliant French are going to choose to make the situation worse by allowing in even more people that need to be evaluated and watched because of the EU political imperative to give Merkel what she wants no matter to what degree she is being an obvious idiot. Drunk

You cant fix stupid, but we dont need to follow them either.

Over a million people are coming this year alone, 30,000 is not even close to the fair share for France. Lets talk real numbers. As one of the larger countries and one of the two founding members of the EU France is going to have to take many multiples of 30,000 per year. The sooner we get to talking real numbers the better.

@hawkeye10,
I think the French are correct, and I think that the Americans who are opposing the admittance of refugees fleeing war and a pretty sick regime are in the wrong.

It is cowardice, pure and simple, to fail to do the right thing because of fear. Locking our doors to innocent people because we are afraid is not who we are.

America is better than that.

Not till/unless the objections are proven to be without merit. You are getting way ahead of yourself.

And regardless if the majority of the people dont want to do it who ever does it anyways had better have a very good reason. "we want to" does not qualify.

Who are you talking about? The refugees? Does every citizen of every country which is threatened by IS (virtually the whole middle east) expect to just replace Europeans by taking over their countries? Just run away, leaving IS in control of that entire territory?

It could be that at some point these people will have to stand and fight rather than just run, eh?

@layman,
Come on Layman!

There is not an ethnic group in America that has not run to freedom from persecutions. This includes both your ancestors and mine (correct me if I am wrong).

It is very easy for us now in in 21st powerful America to forget this. We as the strong have a duty to protect the weak.

Courage is the duty of the strong to protect the weak. It is not courage for the strong to tell the weak to die on their own.

Are you advocating a full-scale U.S. invasion of Syria and surrounding areas now, Max?

@layman,
If they won't fight for themselves, who's gunna do it for them?

Quote:
I am not only a pacifist but a militant pacifist. I am willing to fight for peace. Nothing will end war unless the people themselves refuse to go to war.(Einstein)

Or should nobody fight them, and just concede everything to IS that they want (all they say they want at this moment, at least)? Just take in the citizens of all those countries, and then see what happens next, that the idea?

An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile, hoping it will eat him last.” (Winston Churchill)

Here's an idea: You got any able-bodied adult kids, Max? Here's what you do. You order them, as their Pappy, to turn their homes over to some weak Syrian refugees and then ship out to join forces with Syrian rebels fighting IS, see? Everyone's happy that way.

@hawkeye10,
None of the French attackers was a refugee from Syria.

There are 2,184 refugees from Syria in the USA - about the same number my home county got this year (300,000 inhabitants).

Hmm, says here:

Quote:
French investigators believe six of the seven Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant jihadis who were killed in the November 13 attacks had been to training camps in Syria, and that three of them had used refugee routes across Europe to get back to France.

Quote:
Abaaoud, the plot’s mastermind, and at least two of the Paris terrorists took a route to France via Greece, it emerged on Thursday, intensifying fears that terrorists are passing themselves off as refugees.

At least three of the eight Paris attackers fought in Syria, and Abaaoud had boasted to an Isil magazine of how police failed to catch him as he moved several times between Belgium and Syria, with border guards failing to recognise his face as a wanted man.

@layman,
And? Does such qualify as a nationality check? (All attackers were of European nationality.)

You seem to be have massive fact problems today. Hopefully you will be better tomorrow

Those tenthousands Western fighters used these routes since three years. (Or before)
How could they do it differently?

But those travelling Jihads are really a big problem.

The Arab American Association of New York has said it is outraged by the decision of the US Congress to pass a bill that would prevent Syrian and Iraqi refugees entering the country without strict background checks.

OUTRAGED, I tellya! Meanwhile.....

A fresh video has been released by Isil militants threatening to attack the White House, according to Reuters. The latest video was released only 24 hours after the jihadists put out another video earmarking New York City as another target.

Well, where are these strict background supposed to come from? A character reference from the Syrian police? I think I see some problems with any background checks coming from Syria.

I already mentioned this. I am not sure that the D's who signed on quite understand that for most intents and purposes this bill would shut down the flow. The Professor sure knows, he was ranting about this bill putting impossible to fulfill conditions on bringing them here earlier today, though he was not clear on why.
