For the Miami @ Cleveland game, you picked Minnesota.
I can't pick Minnesota to win the Miami @ Cleveland game? Okay, I'll choose Miami.

@George,
That's interesting, George. In the early days of my playing this, I did tote up what others said, but I quickly - including on that first tote - found I disagreed with some of the growing consensus and baldly (ok, my hair can be curly when it's short and freshly washed) made my own choices, reading derived. In a way, it shows how wrong we can be, which is a good thing. I've never been swayed by what someone else here thinks, but I've been swayed for ill or good by sports writers.
In recent days, Buffalo is looking better. But, gah, they're going against New England.

@ossobuco,
Well you know what they say about any given Sunday . . .
Thanks, Cowdoc, for your picks.
I checked my maps re the fires in Idaho and I see that they don't seem to be affecting Salmon.
So...I will introduce a new "game within the game" in due course. It will NOT require players to do anything extra.
As of now, my teaser is this: What do Edgar, Jespah and Cowdoc have in common? Hmm... Or how about Ragman, Andy and George?
Looks like I am going down the very first week.
@realjohnboy,
I've been looking at Idaho maps too.
@realjohnboy,
We're not on fire this year, but it's still plenty smoky. The tough part for me (as long as rjb and osso are looking at maps) was coming home from a meeting in Kamiah Monday afternoon. I got back as far as east of Lowell only to find that a fire on the Montana side of the pass had closed Highway 12. Since there aren't a lot of alternate routes in this part of the world, I had to backtrack to Lewiston, then north to Coeur d'Alene and east on I-90 to Missoula to get home, just about doubling the distance home. Took a little over eleven hours to cover the five hundred miles so I could get home at 2:30 the next morning. Didn't see any flames, but the Bitterroot was seriously smoke-filled on the way through. Thanks for watching out for the Miz and me, folks!
@CowDoc,
Yikes. Between the fire(s) and the stuff with that kidnapped girl, quite an eventful time.
There was a california fire right by my ex bro-in-law's place, but he had sadly sold it some years ago now. It probably affected him anyway as he built it himself with close to no help and it wasn't small. He's a building inspector, as it happens. Haven't talked with him, but I think the fire just missed that few houses.

Those are 3 fine, upstanding individuals.
Quote:Hmm... Or how about Ragman, Andy and George?
Now that's a pretty sketchy group.
@Ticomaya,
Grabbing charcoal and Strathmore paper now.
Getting that trail of cigar smoke is hard to make look realistic.
@realjohnboy,
I give up, rjb. Other than most of us are homo sapiens I don't know.

One has been called "Goth-boy" by rjb.
The other two are old enough to have been actual Goths.
@realjohnboy,
I'm going with the home team for the opener. I'll be more discriminating as time goes on.
