There is still time for players to change picks, of course.

WEEK #17 PREVIEW:
There are two games that qualify as tossups: Green Bay @ Chicago and San Francisco @ Arizona. In each case we favor the visiting team 10-8.
We are unanimous in picking Carolina, Pittsburgh, New England, Denver and Seattle.
Overall we agree on 83% of our picks.
Lightening22 and Cowdoc pick with the majority on every match while Johnboy, Osso and Ragman are off on just one.
CoastalRat, who is one game behind Cowdoc for the lead, disagrees with the majority on two matches. The championship will be decided based on the outcomes of the Green Bay @ Chicago and Detroit @ Minnesota matches. CoastalRat is picking the home teams.

Not sure if there are any more convoluted races still going on for other teams, but here's what I'm watching this weekend.

Obviously, the most important thing is for the Saints to win. That guarantees them a spot in the 2013 NFL playoffs. But what happens in the Panthers-Falcons and 49ers-Cardinals games greatly affects their exact playoff seeding. With some luck, the Saints could actually still grab the No. 2 overall seed and a first-round bye, though the most likely scenario is a No. 6 seed. If the Saints lose, then they're heavily dependent on luck to even make the playoffs.

*If the Saints win, the Panthers win, and the 49ers win/tie, the Saints will get the No. 6 seed.
*If the Saints win, the Panthers win, and the Cardinals win, the Saints will get the No. 5 seed.
*If the Saints lose, the Panthers win, and the 49ers win, the Saints will get the No. 6 seed.
*If the Saints lose and the Cardinals win/tie, the Saints will not make the playoffs. It doesn't matter whether the Panthers win or lose.

Stupid Falcons!

@JPB,
Good Falcons. That snap snafu really killed them. I was worried they would manage to get into FG range.

@CoastalRat,
That snap was BS. First (and hopefully last) time I ever felt compelled to cheer for the Falcons.

Hmm. Would you believe I wrote this rule (17.6) back in the 2007 season?
In the event two or more players finish the season with identical records, the winner will be the player who picks closest to the total points scored in the final game of the regular season.

WEEK #17 IN REVIEW
We had the best week as a group of the season! We got 83% of our picks right.
Panzade, Cowdoc, Miz Cowdoc, CoastalRat and Lightening22 were 15-1 and Miz Cowdoc was closest to the final score of the final game. She wins the week.
The Best ESPN expert was 16-0 while the worst guy finished the week at 12-4.

@ossobuco,
I have you as picking the Jets and the Lions, Osso. You posted that you were thinking about switching to the Vikings. I might have missed you actually making the change.

I messed up in recording the outcome of the Jets @ Dolphins game. Osaso did indeed go 15-1 and wins week #17. Panzade, Cowdoc, Miz Cowdoc, Coastalrat and Lightening22 finished at 14-2.
I'll have the final standings later today.

By my count we made about 4,700 picks here in 2013! Most of us chose 255 games (not counting the one game that ended in a tie).

BY MY TALLY-
1) Cowdoc got 170 right to finish with a winning mark of .667
2) CoastalRat was right behind at 169 (.662)

3) JPB - 162 (.635)
3) Rhys - 162 (.635)
3) George - 162 (.635)
3) Johnboy - 162 (.635)

7) Kolyo - 161 (.631)
8) Tico - 160 (.627)
8) Lightening22 - 160 (.627)
10) Panzade - 159 (.6235)
11) ehBeth - 138 (.6234) *
12 ) Miz Cowdoc - 158 (.620)
13) Ragman - 157 (.616)
14) Osso - 153 (.600)
15) Mysteryman - 141 (.590) *
16) Edgar - 147 (.576)
16) AndyD - 147 (.576)
18) McGentrix's daughter - 136 (.533)

The best ESPN expert had 174 correct picks (.682) - good for 1st. Their worst guy had 157 (.616). He wold have tied with Ragman for 13th.

* Mysteryman and ehBeth missed picking some games.

That's the way I have it.

Congrats to Cowdoc on the win. It came down to that stupid last minute TD for GB. I thought I had it won until Chicago stood around and watched Rogers throw the winning TD. Oh well. Been a good year. Enjoyed it as always.

Congrats to Cowdoc on winning the trophy. I'm happy to share the bronze with a great group of others. Also pleased to see my teammates ending high on the leader board.
