Send me a private message and I will send you the URL to join "a2kicker",
our Yahoo fantasy football league.

The good folks at Yahoo decided to improve their fanatsy football by
eliminating the need to have the league ID and a password. Now you
either receive an invitation from the commisioner (which ain't gonna
happen unless he has your email address) or the commisioner can send
you the URL to go to in order to join.

I'm helping out the commissioner by distributing the URL by means of PMs.
I don't want to publish the URL on A2K for obvious reasons.

One other thing -- you will need to get a Yahoo account to join.

So here is a little more about Fantasy Football. I asked Rhys if he would once again set the league up for 2013/2014. He did and discovered that Yahoo has changed the routine for signing up. George has explained about how people can get in.
I separately mentioned to Rhys that there were perhaps too many players (14) in the league. That was mentioned last year. There simply were too few decent choices at some positions, resulting in a few good fantasy teams and a few pretty bad teams. Maybe having only 10 or 12 teams would be better.
Rhys did not directly respond to the issue but I see he has set the league up with 10.
We started out inviting people who are in the Fantasy Baseball thing. We have also heard from Mysteryman and I have got a PM from Cyclo.
I hesitate to start a thread for Fantasy Football unless I get a little guidance as to the preferred league size.
I was thinking that one thing that might (or might not) work is to increase the size of the rosters.

@realjohnboy,
I like 12. 14 is probably too big, but I played in a 20 team league last year, which was something.

@Ticomaya,
If we got twenty people, we could have two teams of ten..

So...Here again is the objective in this A2K game...
Each week we post a list of the NFL games. Your task is to predict the winning teams. It is really that simple!
Knowledge of football is useful but not required. We would hope that you will play along for the whole season but if you decide to drop out, that is fine. At the end of the season there is an awesome trophy awarded to the player with the best record.
Along the way we wander off into discussions about subjects other than football.
We cordially invite you to join us.

Before I pick I need to know how the game works, because when I play, I play to win.

How do you determine who wins the whole shebang?
Is it based on the number of weeks a person finishes first, or simply the number of games picked correctly over the course of the year?

@Kolyo,
The overall winner is the player who ends the season with the best winning percentage after 17 weeks. We do give a nod to the player who does the best each week.
We expect that players will participate by posting their picks in all of the games. But over the years I have realized that folks may not be able to that. They may leave off a game or may have to miss an entire week. There is no penalty when that happens and there is no need to provide an explanation for their absence. At some point, though, I decree that there must be a minimum number of games picked in order to be in the running for the best winning percentage for the season. I guess I would also take action if I saw a player display a pattern of deliberately skipping games.
I usually post the schedule for the week on Sundays. I encourage players to post their picks early in the week. It makes my job a LOT easier. Players may change their selections but final choices for ALL of the games are due by the kickoff of the FIRST game. Typically that is on Thursday night at around 8pm ET. We are pretty strict about that.
I hope that I have answered your questions about how things work. I am certainly open to any suggestions.
We look forward to your participation, Kolyo.

I took your check to the bank, but it bounced.

For the Miami @ Cleveland game, you picked Minnesota.

@Ticomaya,
In other words, it's a crapshoot, slightly tameable by knowledge but very inconsistently so. (I've only watched the craps table in Vegas once, so I'm no expert.)
