@Lustig Andrei,
I enjoy inviting people to step ahead of me in the market line. If they hesitate I say, It's fine; I'm retired. They seem to accept this as a valid reason to move up in place.

@Diane,
Lusty - Diane, I always think of his latter name that way, mini giggling, but hadn't called him that yet. Brava!

He's in trouble now.... .... ....

@edgarblythe,
I have a hard enough time getting the socks on once I get them out of the drawer.

@neologist,
I buy the ones that don't go higher than the shoes. They are much less stressful.

When people react to my senior moments, I challenge them to wait around for one of my junior moments.

Well about a month ago I got an invitation to join AARP - I am not even close to being able to retire. I just qualify for the old farts club as not too long ago I hit that half century milestone.

But I am far from grandchildren as my youngest is still in elementary school - one thing about having children older - is people think you are younger than you are.

@Linkat,
The kids keep you young, I figure.

@JLNobody,
Ok, that's funny, I want to know more. Zeroes in with strobe lights.. while laughing.

No, I can't throw you to the wolves, jl. But I think we both spent some time on an LA street and you were working and I was on some date.

@Ticomaya,
Ok funny - my 14 year old's doctor recommended ensure for her. So it isn't just an old fart drink.

I don't drink it by the way.

Certainly a newbie in this club.

I am getting ready to retire in 4 weeks! Already on the down slope at work.

The down slope at work maybe, but not the down slope in life - it's really only just the start of a whole new and exciting chapter! Enjoy!

@JLNobody,
I love this line and I wonder if, when you say it, the people to whom you are speaking look at you in surprise.

No matter how old you are, there are always the junior moments that help keep you young. At seventy, I relish them when they come along.

@vonny,
Vonny's right: it's a new beginning. I retired in 1999 and havn't had so much fun in the life before. Frank, now it's time to be on the "up slope" at life. You've got the time. Your Buddhist practice will certainly help.

I appreciate the comments. I am ready for a new beginning. The down slope at work isn't a bad thing. I'm not too much involved in long term planning at this point. Training my replacement. He is young and eager.
