@ossobuco,
Did either of you get to the Prado?

@ossobuco,
That's the Plaza Mayor I remember.

Yes, I did visit the Prado. I also remember a painting of a huge living room that has several young girls in it. I don't remember the name of that painting, but I can still picture it in my mind's eye.

I know I had my picture taken by the Prado, and it's driving me nuts, because I can't seem to locate it. I also should have a picture of Plaza Major, and the main street in Madrid where the main post office is located.

@cicerone imposter,
I found my picture at the Prado. It was November 5, 1996.

I'll go look for a picture of Plaza Mayor.

Of that painting I remembered. There's a mirror on the wall on the other side, and I remember that our docent told us about that mirror and the people in it, but I forgot what it was.

@ossobuco,
Thanks for identifying that picture. The couple reflected in the mirror is the king and queen. I knew there was something important about that mirror.

@cicerone imposter,
The Wiki article on that particular artwork is worth reading.

@cicerone imposter,
Yes, that's almost how I remember the Plaza, except that there were tables set outside of the buildings with waiters running back and forth serving food at outrageous prices. Fortunately we were on vacation.

@ossobuco,
We also went to the Prado with an astronaut who used to travel, like C.I., every year, but he did it mainly to get away from the stress of his job. C.I. does it for pure joy. Very Happy

I remember those outside seating at restaurants too at Plaza Mayor.

We also visited Salamanca on that tour, and they also have a Plaza Mayor with restaurants within the plaza.

Yes, we had a really nice lunch last week. And despite what you've heard, JLNobody is a very nice guy.

By reading the posts I can say this is definitely for me. I'm retiring at the end of June and can't wait.

As far as age, If you notice the guys in the erectile dysfunction commercials are your children's age, you are old.

I appreciate my age and I think I have accumulated what some may call a little wisdom. Not sure why it took so long.

@cicerone imposter,
Quote:
My problems are a) I dirty my shirt when I eat out, and nobody tells me about it, b) my shirt in the back is sticking out, and nobody tells me about it, and c) I have toilet paper stuck on my shoes, and I'm dragging it along with me - and nobody tells me about it.

If that's the problems you have, you are doing pretty good. I wouldn't worry much about that list.

I often spill food on the front of my shirt when eating, and my wife always gets a chuckle.

My wife doesn't dare chuckle. She spills at least as much as I do.

@Lustig Andrei,
Once in a while, I spill food on the floor. When I say you can eat off my floors, I am not speaking figuratively.

When I think of myself as extremely old, like in my nineties, I always see in my mind Spencer Tracy in the scene where he opens his sock drawer, or tries to. He ends slinging the drawer away in his ineptness, aggravated as hell.
