@edgarblythe,
That was probably before child labor laws.

@edgarblythe,
Looking back on it, I can't believe they had us doing it.

Of course, we did all sorts of crazy things as kids; on bicycles, in trees, and scampering around on the roof of the big old schoolhouse catching pigeons in gunny sacks. Rolling down hilly streets curled up inside of truck tires was a good one, too.

Thinking back on it all, I'm amazed I'm here to tell of it.

@edgarblythe,
I can't see that.

Well, I'll nose around and see if I can scan his photo from 1959.

@Debacle,
Type metal. Lead, tin, zinc, and antimony. Great stuff for modern, hard cast bullets. Too hard for muzzle loaders. They need nearly pure lead or they won't properly obdurate.

Want to know how long I waited for a chance to slip obdurate into a sentence?

@Debacle,
One of our childhood stunts was jumping off a shed with an umbrella for a parachute. The umbrella was so heavy it made our landing all the harder.

Edgar, that is James Coburn and Kris Kristofferson in the film "Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid" from 1973.

@Debacle,
But all of us saw the movie, Bad Day at Black Rock - I think in Omaha.

Not in '73, '59.

I 'spect a long time, Rog. Though I wouldn't say you're especially obdurate, you're pretty patient, I judge.

@Debacle,
I knew Coburn. I went to google images for a pic of the guy and that's what came up. I read that he was in that film.

@Lustig Andrei,
someone from the boston area must know that - it is sacred. You must be getting old.

@cicerone imposter,
Festival of San Fermin in Pomplona began this morning. Only 4 nuts injured in the first morning's running of the bulls.

Now I am getting scam calls for old people - I got 3 calls today for free medical alert - I did hang up at the robo call each of the 3 times, but after the third I did a search. And the second item is on the aarp website about this scam. Damn did the aarp give my phone number out? How the heck do these people know I just reached that magic number. And also all the articles I saw said they are targeting seniors.

Any way I think next time they call I am going to act like a really old fart and keep them on phone as long as possible and keep repeating questions and things ... I can't let these scammers hurt our lovely old farts.
